As the article dryly notes, Mr Berry doesn’t specify whether he’s referring to his political record or his rap sheet. 
I’ll never forget when the video of Marion Barry came out. I was living in a group house in DC and my roommates had not the most positive opinions of Barry. It was after one of us had gone to bed and the rest were watching the news. We started hooting and hollering and she came stomping down the hall, pissed at the racket we were making. This immediately turned to perverse glee once she heard what had happened. 
She was a loud demonstrative person and the shift from big anger to big shocked surprise/delight was hilarious.
Yeah, that was a weird time in DC; the rift between black DC and white DC never seemed more pronounced, it got ugly.
I can’t believe this turd still holds elective office. (Barry that is.) The other guy is just a fart in the wind.
The DC go-go scene was pretty big. I remember Marion Barry on a live recording (maybe with chuck brown?) rapping ‘I’m Marion Barry and this is my rap, we don’t tolerate drugs in the nations cap.’
