Weirdly, just a few days ago during my commute I was wondering who from the cast of Glee would have the best post-Glee career and who would have the worst. This was inspired by Darren Criss’s well-reviewed performance in the current American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace. I figured Criss was currently a strong contender for “best”, and that Cory Monteith’s 2013 death from a drug overdose would probably always make him the “worst”.
Then I remembered hearing a while back that Mark Salling had been charged with possession of child pornography, and that in terms of his career this could be worse than death. (Monteith appeared in two films released posthumously.) So it was an odd coincidence but not really a surprise to hear today that Salling had been found dead, apparently of suicide, about a month before he was to be sentenced.
I see Glee hit 121 episodes – did it ever go into syndication? Because, man, talk about a deal breaker.

It went into syndication years ago, when the show was still current and popular, which seems to be the newer model, but AFAIK the old episodes are no longer being shown on US television. The series is available from streaming services.
Since Salling can no longer profit from his association with the show, I’m not sure if moral objections would keep many people away. However, his character was a jerk who often aggressively pursued inappropriate sexual relationships (although usually with older women), so that could easily make people feel uncomfortable watching the show. Salling rarely appeared after his character graduated from high school at the end of the third season, but Glee was rarely worth watching after the second season, so that probably doesn’t help much.

I always thought Paul Rubens got a raw deal. Please, the guy was in a porno theater, what’s the big deal?

From what I’ve read, not exactly. I am loathe to sesrch down the articles again but what I remember is that there were nudes of underage people in his collection, but nothing explicitly sexual.

At the time, the story was that Paul Reubens was caught masturbating in a pornographic theater (I think in Florida). At about the same time, Wilt Chamberlain’s autobiography was published, in which he claimed to have slept with 50,000 women. One comedian joked, “PeeWee Herman practices safe sex and is vilified, while Wilt Chamberlain is a national hero.”
I remember loads of websites back in the early days of the internet that would tout underage girls who were naked, but not doing anything sexual.
Their schtick was always “come see all the naked 12, 13, and 14 year old girls you want! They are just standing naked in a field so it’s not illegal!”
I guess we hung out in different parts of the early internet.
Nudity as from nudist camps is legal for all ages as there’s no sexuality involved. They can get away with having them in possession but it’ll certainly raise some eyebrows.
