Jeffrey Dahmer was a serial rapist and murderer (and possibly a cannibal) who was brutally murdered in prison. Are you sure you know enough about the facts in the Jared case to equate them?
Did you miss the part where I said part of me? And, yes, since he admits to the crime and it furthers demand for child porn I would have no problem with him being whacked in prison in a very slow and painful way.
I thought it was pretty established Dahmer was a cannibal. Not to mention amateur brain surgeon as well as rapist and murderer.
Are we saying that and viewing child porn are equivalent crimes?

I never said that they were equivalent crimes. But one good way to really reduce the demand for child pornography is to kill those who deal in it. And I also didnt say that the government should kill him.
The part of me that doesnt have a problem with it is the part that remembers Sun Zes writing ‘Kill one to frighten 10,000.’
Wishing that someone be extrajudicially murdered is worse than wishing that the death penalty be imposed via due process.
The former is tantamount to disclaiming any notion of law or justice.
This is a unique case. He is a public figure; famous. His extrajudicial death would actually serve as an overall positive to society if it affects a few more innocent children. We dont know the effect on these kids of his (and others) crimes. Im sure more than a few have committed suicide being unable to deal with their abuse. Im not sayin I would kill him myself but I wouldnt do anything to stop it either.
In my eyes this is a completely immoral and unethical position, regardless of who the “him” is.
If someone is in state custody, duly serving a legally imposed sentence, and is unable to interact with the public, then it is incumbent on every member of society to support ensuring that he is safe from any extrajudicial harm.
I don’t care if it’s Hitler. If the law has not sentenced a prisoner of the state to death, then it is our duty to ensure that he is not killed.

I usually agree with this but there is just something about this case that bothers me. Here was a guy who was given an opportunity to live a wealthy and comfortable life helping people get healthy. He moved amongst the rich and famous. But then he had to go get involved in a vile crime. His case will further public cynicism directed at people who want to do good. His wealth will likely buy him legal representation that will mitigate his sentence in a way an ordinary person cant afford. He will live out his days rich. I just dont know.

So what you’re saying is that you have no firm principles, and that those principles you sort of have you are willing to set aside if you feel like it’s justified. Of course, you won’t dirty your own hands, but you’ll stand on the sidelines and quietly approve.
