I didn’t do this because I thought it would be obnoxious to ask her to move to Louisiana without being serious enough to want to get married. I was right - it would not have gone over well. Not that I’m against it in normal circumstances, but there is a difference. I did have a girl I dated move in with me after I had moved away, but that was her wish, and it was done with a lot less consideration than getting married (and it didn’t work out very well.)
