Is the father of the bride obligated to give a toast at the reception. or is the money he shells out enough.
In the US, I believe the custom is for the Best Man to toast the couple at the wedding reception, though there is nothing to prevent the father of the bride from making a toast as well, should he so desire.
Come to think of it, there is nothing to prevent anyone from toasting the couple at the reception.
He isn’t obligated to give money. It’s all custom and tradition, it’s for the involved parties to decide which ones they want to follow.
The last wedding I participated in (as Best Man) I toasted the bride and groom, as did the Maid of Honor.
“What is a wedding? Webster’s defines it as : to pull weeds from ones garden.”
