Likely, he’ll interpret this as a call to take off the Guards’ shackles, and just let them shoot brown people without provocation.
Wow. In terms of political-social context and likely impact, rather reminiscent of George Floyd. South Minneapolis – again!
(And, not to make light of a very serious incident…but maybe Stills, Nash, and Young will write a song about this).
Just saw the video. They tried to pull the door open and she drove away in the opposite direction from any ICE personnel. They shot and murdered her as she drove away.
Wow. Mayor Frey just said on live TV, “First, ICE: GET THE FUCK OUT OF MINNEAPOLIS!”
Finally! What took him so long!
Saw this earlier today. Made me want to chew nails.

Pro-Trump influencers celebrate after Walz ends reelection bid : NPR
…
“Tim Walz was almost Vice President of the United States,” wrote Rogan O’Handley, a pro-Trump commentator with more than 2 million followers on X. “Now he’s dropping out of the Governor’s race in Minnesota in disgrace. All because a 23-year-old kid with a camera and a thirst for justice exposed billions of his fraud. May @nickshirleyy ’s work create 1,000 more Nick Shirleys.”
Shirley himself posted to X on Monday, “I ENDED TIM WALZ.”

And now there will be a whole gaggle of military lawyers sent to Minneapolis.
The Pentagon is working to surge dozens of military lawyers to Minneapolis to assist in federal prosecutions amid an immigration enforcement crackdown there, according to two officials familiar with the matter and a written request that has circulated inside the Defense Department.
The emailed request, reviewed by CNN, says that Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has directed the military services to identify 40 judge advocate general officers, from which 25 will be selected to serve as special assistant United States attorneys in Minneapolis.

“the conditions of the mission” warranted an extension past the end of next month to continue supporting President Donald Trump’s “ongoing efforts to restore law and order.

And still unanswered is how he is able to call up the Washington DC National Guard now when he supposedly was unable to call up the Washington DC National Guard on January 6, 2021.
Also unanswered is how soon will the DCNG be turned into his version of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps .

And US Civil War version 2.0 is ramping up.
The Pentagon has ordered about 1,500 active duty soldiers in Alaska to prepare for a potential deployment to Minnesota, two defense officials confirmed Sunday.
The two battalions, which are with the 11th Airborne Division, would likely be joined by other troops from units across the country that would provide logistic and other support, according to one of the officials, both of whom were granted anonymity to discuss internal deliberations.
The two infantry battalions in Alaska are trained to operate in the Arctic and across the Indo-Pacific, top priorities for the Trump administration. They’re not trained for crowd control situations, but they are equipped to operate in cold conditions, which would be useful in Minnesota.
Of course this is in response to the governor’s move.

Walz has mobilized the state National Guard to support the Minnesota State Patrol, a spokesperson for the guard said Saturday. An official in the governor’s office said the move was a reconfirmation of Walz’s direction for the state National Guard to mobilize in support of the local law enforcement. The guard hasn’t been deployed.
Plus, right now isn’t there somewhere else you’d be preparing to send your Arctic-trained troops?

The felon has to retreat.
Donald Trump’s administration has quietly withdrawn federalized National Guard troops from Democratic cities after a series of court rulings struck down the president’s plans.
The withdrawal quietly concluded last month, with no public acknowledgment from the White House or Department of Defense despite the administration’s insistence that U.S. military assets needed to be deployed on American streets to curb violent crime and support immigration enforcement.
The end of those deployments, first reported by The Washington Post , is mentioned only by the U.S. Northern Command, stating that troops sent to Chicago, Portland and Los Angeles have “completed demobilizing activities.”
That includes the withdrawal of more than 5,000 troops from California, roughly 500 troops in Chicago and another 200 in Oregon at the president’s direction. They were sent home by January 21, according to the Pentagon.
Those deployments cost nearly half a billion dollars, according to the Congressional Budget Office.
Trump shuffles awkwardly when he walks because his tail is between his legs.

Concerning the national guard in Chicago, I’m rather certain that no troops got any closer to the city than Elwood Illinois where they were stationed.
