By the way, if you have a problem with the 1st sentence of the post of mine that caused you to choke (I’m guessing you have some sort of condition that makes that happen) I’ll briefly explain to you the process which resulted in me being accepted at the USMA.
First, yes, you have to apply. Being accepted into the academy would mean your application was accepted.
I had a 3.9 GPA and extensive extracurricular activities, I was not surprised I was accepted because I had received an informatoin packet from the academy after inquiring about the admissions process which outlined the qualifications of the average successful applicant.
At that time I believe roughly 1/15 people who applied eventually were accepted, keeping in mind that while West Point has its own applications process you also need a nomination for the academy to have the legal authority to process your application.
My U.S. House of Representatives member at the time was William C. Wampler, his office maintained a separate address for West Point nominations and I had to fill out forms and applications for him.
My U.S. Senators at the time were William L. Scott and Harry F. Byrd, the process was fairly similar with those two. I understand at one time it was beneficial to have a personal connection of some sort with the congressman in question. By the time I was interested to my knowledge all congressional nominations were handled in a fairly routinized manner by the congressman’s office staff.
I was infomed the President and Vice President also get to nominate five people each year. However I did not send anything to the addresses provided for those two officeholders, the Vice Presidency in fact may have been vacant at the time.
My nomination was ultimately given to me by Harry Byrd.
All of a sudden, this thread gets interesting again for me.
Why don’t you feel that way, Mr. Hyde? Why don’t you feel it is wrong to be rude to strangers, to hang around them only to battle and belittle them, to stand in the middle of the madhouse proclaiming yourself the One Sane Man? Just what it is it about that you feel is right?
Well, you’re partially right: they see the boards differently than you do. The difference, though, is that they understand that people can actually disagree with them and still be rational, functioning humans.
If you feel differently, nobody’s forcing you to pay $15 to talk to us. I don’t see why you’d want to stick around here if you have such an opinion of us.
I said what I said in the pit, cthiax, where such behavior is acceptable. I don’t think I’ve ever belittled or flamed someone out of the pit intentionally, I think it may have happened by accident once or twice but I’m not sure about that. I have gotten two mod warnings in the pit.
I’ve already explained why I’m here, earlier in the thread.
Anyways, I’m finished with this thread. I think it’s done whatever it is going to do, et cetera and there’s no reason for me to keep reading it or posting in it.
Whatever it is that drives you to be less that you really are is not healthy. Strength of conviction is admirable only in those who remain educated and open. Those with integrity don’t shrink from straight-forward questions.
Why fight the battle for chaplains if you lose the war of what their counsel would be? Why hoist the banner of religion and ignore the religious principles of love for your fellow man?
I wish you peace of mind and clarity of thought, Martin.
3… well, I don’t know, you simply act like you really don’t like non-religious people, you know, what with the belittling and name-calling and all…
And 5 is really the point, isn’t it? I mean, just like I was guessing your relationship to the chaplain corps in point 4, you are ascribing a single motivation to every detractor of the chaplain corps.
Probably, both guesses are wrong. My guess had a bigger chance to be spot on, you, however, are trying to guess the motivation of many more people.
Because for a lot of people (big Marty obviously one of them), Jay-sus isn’t a teacher or a healer. Jay-sys is a fucking bludgeon, and if you don’t like it he’ll demonstrate exactly what that means!
You’d be better off wishing him a muzzle and a jacket with sleeves that tie behind the neck.
No, that’s not accurate. My sweetie Martin Hyde is a lot of things, but I’ve never seen him try to bludgeon anybody with Jesus, or any sign that he’s likely to try. Actually, I don’t think he’s a fucking idiot, either. Just a really misled bastard whose opinion of his own superiority to us mentally ill freaks is way too high, and someone who should maybe think about why he’s seeking out a place where he can be mean to people, if he believes what he says he does.
