Be that as it may, I will continue exercise my right to protest the fact that my hard earned $$ is supporting a state sponsored religious activity. If I lose that right, what the hell were all those soldiers fighting and losing their lives for over the past 300 years?
Seconded, it’s just another reflection of how, politically and socially speaking, the SDMB is so unbelievably out of synch with the rest of society. If normal society is earth, the SDMB is the Oort cloud.
I disagree, I can post on this message board, I can write my local paper, I can vote, I can picket, I can protest.
Roe Vs. Wade settled the abortion issue a long time ago, but that doesnt stop hundreds of thousands of people from protesting it to this very day. Thats the beauty of a democracy, something that the most “dispicable leftists” on this board continue to fight to defend.
You should visit Saudi Arabia, or Iran. Perhaps you would feel more comfortable in a country utterly stripped of your right to say any of the garbage you have been spewing onto this board that only historic “leftists” have afforded you in this country.
I was simply saying you will never be successful. The Third Reich is gone and dead, sure, some scattered fringe groups can continue fighting under the Nazi banner but the chances of them ever being successful are exactly zero. Just like the chance of you ever being successful is exactly zero. That is why it is a “settled issue.”
Abortion isn’t a settled issue as there’s still a very real chance abortion law can be fundamentally changed in this country. Ask any pro-choicer and they will tell you how real that chance is and why it’s all the more reason for them to fight even more strenuously for their cause.
I enjoy more an environment in which everyone disagrees with me than an environment in which everyone agrees with me. One leads to complaceny, the other does not.
Another thing, Mr.Hyde…
Please understand that in spite of the fact that I disagree with you, I relish the freedom both we all have to discuss these points, and I am glad you are on the board expressing your point of view to us “unwashed leftists”. This board would totally suck if we all just sat around agreeing with each other.
You know most of the people who agree that Chaplains should be retained, still think you are acting like an idiot.
I’ll disagree with mrrealtime, Otto and Der Trihs but I still respect their right to try and convince others and if they choose try and change the military. I would vote against them, but I would support their right.
This is what America is about, isn’t it?
I know it is why I was willing to serve in the Reagan Navy.
**Shagnasty ** completely agrees with you but he isn’t telling people to get out of the country or calling them degenerates. Maybe you could learn something from him.
But of course. Certainly the child molesters, murderers, rapists, etc. aren’t the worst segment of society. Rather, it is those who dare to question any policy of the government that they don’t agree with.
So? Thats not the point. I will happily spend my entire life defending the separation of church and state in all forms, regardless of whether anything changes. I am compelled to do that in order to be true to myself.
I seem to be held as being fairly “credible” by the majority of denizens of the SDMB. Should I now consider myself to be “worse off as a person” as a result?
Oh, that’s not what he was saying. He was saying that America is not a pro-choice atheist homosexual who votes Green! Those people are the ones killing America. Also people on zoloft.
