Martin/Zimmerman: humble opinions and speculation thread

If they withhold something that contradicts the evidence they HAVE released then that is in their favor.

If you take Deedee entirely out of the equation, the implausibility of Zimmerman’s version(s) of events still stands. This is obvious to anyone except a diehard GZ supporter.

If Deedee was that crucial of a prosecution witness AND there was evidence that she lied about material facts in this case, then that should make it all the more baffling to yall that Zimmerman has waived an immunity hearing. Again, this should be obvious to anyone capable of critical thought. Secondly, that the defense is directing its attention at all to this witness is an indication that they have a weak case. If anything is going to send GZ to jail, it’s going to be the forsenic evidence, the screaming voice on the 911 audio, and his own wackadoodle testimony.

Whether or not a 18 year-old lied about her age to her dead boyfriend’s attorney is about as critical as a mosquito bite on a gunshot victim.

Actions speak louder than words. The defense can make all kinds of bogus claims, but look at where the case actually stands right now.

Angela Corey press conference.

If you remove DD from the equation, the prosecution has no witness to discredit GZ’s version of what happened.

The SA still has to convince a jury that GZ version is implausible. And GZ doesn’t have to testify.

Yes it does. Zimmerman discredits himself.

It stands just fine on it’s own.

The Prosecutor continues to withhold evidence regarding DD’s interviews. That would be the baffling part. If Deedee wasn’t a crucial part of the prosecution they wouldn’t be withholding evidence.

We have a witness who went outside and heard Zimmerman begging him for help. Not Martin, Zimmerman. There will be no doubt who was screaming for help. None.

Actually it’s a huge deal that she lied during an interview and did so because Trayvon’s mother was in the room. These aren’t the lies you believe Zimmerman made because you don’t believe him. These are outright, provable lies. The fact that the Prosecution is trying to hide information speaks volumes. This is a win-at-all-costs scenario and not an example of seeking justice. It’s against the law to withhold evidence from the defense council.

That still wouldn’t be proof that GZ didn’t believe he was in imminent danger when he finally shot the person who was beating him.

You mean when the guy he picked a fight with fought back.

all the evidence and witnesses will show Martin attacking Zimmerman. there is no evidence that Zimmerman attacked Martin. DD’s testimony indicates she heard Zimmerman say “get off” even though she thinks it was Martin. If it was Martin she would have heard him clearly but she heard it “a little bit”. She heard someone who was away from the microphone and that would be Zimmerman.

All the evidence shows that Zimmerman was in the area he said he was in which was well away from Martin’s house. Martin had all the time in the world to go home but instead confronts Zimmerman in this location. We know from both testimonies that Martin is the one who engages Zimmerman. There are no signs that Zimmerman every touched Martin and plenty of evidence Martin pummeled Zimmerman.

The Prosecution has nothing to go on except DD’s opinion and that’s going down in flames the nanosecond she hits the stands.

Why do you think that? Just because the defense makes that claim, doesn’t make it true.

Well, we have multiple witnesses that said a teenager/boy was screaming for help right before the gun went off. “John”, bless his heart, messed up his credibilty by recanting his prior statements, but the witnesses who said they heard a “despondent boy” have not.

So you couldn’t be more wrong.

Okay, if all this is true, why has the defense waived the opportunity to show this in an immunity hearing? If DeeDee’s credibility a real game changer, why has the defense passed up the chance to have Zimmerman walk well in advance of his trial date–thus saving him money, time, and freedom?

there is no indication that Zimmerman struck Martin or attempted to start a fight.

Neither does Deedee’s testimony, so obviously the prosecution is planning to use something else to show this.

Deedee is a diversion.

Except when he chased him down and confronted him with a gun, of course.

actually it does. You can’t declare everything someone says is a lie for the sake of argument.

there is only one witness who went to the door and he was asked by Zimmerman to help him. Beyond that there is nothing to go on as to who was screaming except the obvious likelihood of the person getting pummeled. All the other witnesses heard was someone screaming. There is no way for them to determine who was screaming.

Because this is the path his lawyer deems most prudent for Zimmerman. and he hasn’t given up the immunity hearing. His lawyer intends to fold it into the main trial. All they gave up was the 2 weeks of time set aside for it.

Yes. When TM was beating GZ, GZ believed that his life was in danger and he shot TM in self defense. Unless you have some proof, excluding DD for the moment, that something else happened. Proof. That’s the prosecution’s biggest problem at the moment, proof.

If DD’s story turns out to be so full of holes that the prosecution can’t use her testimony, what evidence do they have left?

Except that he never chased him down and confronted him with a gun. We have a police phone record of what happened and he lost sight of him before he got out of his truck and he stops running in the general direction after being asked to. There is no evidence that Zimmerman confronted Martin but there is evidence that Martin confronted Zimmerman and that is both Zimmerman’s and DD’s testimony.

Even WITH DD’s testimony it’s extremely weak. And given that she heard someone say “get off” a little bit I would welcome her testimony. It helps Zimmerman.

I don’t know how to break this to you, but the defense has asserted many things that may not be true. For instance, the assertion that GZ shot Martin in self-defense. If you think that’s true just on their say so, I have a bridge to sell ya.

Riiight. And all that makes sense to you.

Yes. I’m aware of your fantasy wherein innocent little Georgie was merely walking through his neighborhood, a simple concerned naif, when he was viciously attacked for no good reason by a thug with some Skittles.

That dog won’t hunt. Zimmie saw a black kid in his neighborhood, didn’t like that one bit, and got out of his truck with his gun to take care of some ball-swinging Neighborhood Watch bidness.

Was he afraid for his life? Unquestionably. I think that pussy is afraid for his life every waking moment.
