Well, the rivalry between Fox and Marvel Studios surely influenced that decision.

Marvel’s push for the Inhumans has petered out to be replaced by an X-Men push, and the upcoming Marvel Legacy thingy will apparently bring back the full Fantastic Four (and Wolverine, per rumors). All undone. So much for the Fox v Marvel Studio “rivalry”.

No, I think it’s fairly accurate to say that the FF taking a backseat was because of Fant4stic. Now that it’s become clear that Fox can’t make a FF movie to save their lives, I guess Marvel no longer feels that publishing the comic is free advertising for Fox.
