Because they said so. If I didn’t make it clear, this was an exact quote:
“We know the fugitive is in the building. Come out now or we WILL open fire.”

Literally the standard cop line in every single show with a cop ever.
Not even in Police Squad! Possibly in the very cheesiest of the cheesy, like Death Wish 12.
Miller’s incorrect version, “Come out with your hands up,” is pretty common. Might even be in 10% of “every single show with a cop ever.”
:dubious:
Well, alright. I admit to my failure to include in my summary of things that happened in this episode, a thing that didn’t happen in this episode. I’ll do my best to avoid this mistake in the future.
I finished streaming the second episode today, and I’m out. There’s nothing really new about this - it’s a typical, by the numbers sci-fi show, with nothing really compelling to it, and I can’t say I like any of the characters despite liking some of the actors.
I spent the entire episode getting annoyed at their stupid haircuts. That’s not a good sign.
I’m enjoying it.
I think I’m more forgiving on some of the good points that many have mentioned because as someone who has watched a lot of TV, they did hit many tropes. However, I like to watch four or five episodes, if I can, before calling it on a show because sometimes the pilot plus a few can be different than the rest because they are the setup.
Decent episode last night. It was pretty stupid to leave and go to the Uncle’s house though, not sure what they expected him to really do, but I guess she needed to at least try getting conventional help before going all in on team mutant.
Wondering what the deal is with the doctor that is so interested in the Strucker kids.
So it looks like we’re going to get an attack on the prisoner transport next week. Given that it’ll only be episode 4 I don’t expect it to be entirely successful.
Although the Strucker family are obviously set up as the audience point-of-view characters, they’re the least interesting part of the show to me. Especially the annoying son. I’ve seen angsty-can’t-control-powers to death.
Apparently he’s going to turn out to be Ahab, and that mutant Hounds will be a thing in the series. Presumably, that facility the Sentinel guy keeps threatening to send people to is where the Hounds get made.
The last episode was the weakest so far IMO. The whole thing with Root and the kids running to her brother’s house was a waste of screen time for the most part. And the neighborhood posse was really weird, with 2 identical pickup trucks. Where were the police during all this?
This episode did at least develop the father character a bit more in that he wouldn’t lead Sentinel to the mutant meet point or give up the woman and overly-cute little kid (that was a bit over the top.) And the red-haired mutant doesn’t mind messing with people’s minds to get what she wants.
Oh ok gotcha. That makes sense. I am not well read on the X comics, but I’ve always been into the movies, the cartoon etc…
I think I might end up dropping this before Inhumans. Inhumans is actually improving with each episode, while this is just trudging along, and not really doing much interesting.
I dropped inhumans already. It is muddle with unlikeable characters. I’ll give Gifted a few more weeks I think but this was a dumb episode.
I found going to the uncle to be realistic, even though it should have been obvious that there was nothing he could do. At least they didn’t go with the cliche of having him betray them which i fully expected. What bugged me was Polaris nearly killing herself to open her cell door, that was completely pointless and she should have known that it would get her nowhere. She should have at least tried to focus on removing the collar before anything else.
That’s no different from The Gifted, IMO.
The difference is Inhumans is clearing up the muddle and letting the characters grow, whereas The Gifted is making the muddle worse, and removing the sympathy that made the characters tolerable.
In the context of the series … what does the collar do, exactly? I thought initially it was a “power dampener” of some sort.
I’m in, so far. It’s better SHIELD had been, and I haven’t gone near the Inhumans because pics of Medusa look so stupid.
I have to say I am crushing hard on:
And does fire guy look like Oscar Isaac or what?!?!
I’m not sure if its a dampener or if it just causes extreme pain, probably both.
Are Thunderbird and Eclipse actual established mutants or simply replacements because they can’t use Warpath and Sunspot?
Warpath was Thunderbird in the comics; when he started, he took the name used by his older brother, Thunderbird. Who was one of the new X-Men in Giant-Size X-Men, but was killed off soon thereafter.
They could’ve used Sunspot if they wanted to, but (1) the SFX would’ve been expensive for little gain, and (2) his powers as “strong guy” are already covered by Thunderbird.
