mary and jesus

Who ever wrote about this from the bible should read the gnostic gospels, especially the gospel of Phillip. Very interesting. I think all the gospels that are contained in the gnostic gospels were left out for a reason by the people of organized relgion of which I a not a big fan of.

To which column are you referring?

Cecil had a column about the so-called “Lost Books of the Bible,” but Dax (and Eutychus) had a five-part series about the entire Bible.

I suspect the OP is referring to the column "Were Jesus and Mary Magdalene lovers? (Which, for what it’s worth, was written pre-Da Vinci Code.)

I looked up what Wikipedia has to say about the Gospel of Philip. Yeah, I know it’s not the final authority on anything, but FWIW

So I agree that this would have at least been worth mentioning in Cecil’s column.

As for the OP’s claim that “the gnostic gospels were left out for a reason by the people of organized relgion,” well, I would assume that if they chose to leave them out of the canon, they had a Reason for doing so—which is not to say that I believe the reason was some big conspiracy to hide a dangerous truth. They could have just thought (or known) it was made-up BS, for instance. I noticed that the “five-part series” that BigT linked to lists “Who were the Gnostics and what was their effect on the development of early Christianity?” as one of the “topics we may return to some day” at the end of the article.

By the way, I find it interesting that “stevecamp” claims not to be a fan of organized religion.
