Mascara buying advice needed!

Hey ladies (and guys?)

I was wondering if the mascera-wearers of the dope could help me out. I’m trying to find a decent mascara to start wearing but I have no clue where to start looking or what type would be best. All I know is that I want something conservative, I guess one could say. Nothing gloppy or dramatic or anything that creates the spider-leg eyelashes that I see so often.

I’ve always been a tomboy and I have no clue where to start looking when it comes to makeup. My aunt gave me some kind that worked well…it came in a pink tube but all the words had been rubbed off so I had no clue as to what brand or what type it was. Nothing has looked as good on me since that tube of mascara and usually I find myself dissatisfied, give up, and wipe the mascara off my eyelashes.

It’s kind of embarassing asking this but I think this is the best place to ask for such advice. As I’ve gotten older I’ve been caring more about my demenor and appearances but I don’t really have anyone as a guide to help me (other than my aunt occassionally but I can’t rely on her for it all.)

Any advice on where to start would be great! If the info helps, I have dark hair and medium length eyelashes, I think. Hereis a picture for example. A bit old (5 years already, I can’t believe it!) but it’s the best one I have of how my eyelashes look on their own.

Was it a pink tube with a green cap? If so, that’s Maybelline’s Great Lash mascara, which can be found at your local drug or discount store.

Maybelline Great Lash is a good basic mascara.

Thanks, you two! I knew I saw it in the store before, just forgot where exactly and the name of the brand.

And thanks for the list, ThelmaLou. I’ll definitely be going over the reviews. I’m not afraid of splurging a little bit if the reviews are good enough, but I definitely want to do a little research first!

You’re welcome, nikon.

I use Buxom Mascara from Sephora. Best one I have ever used.
