I’m still excited for this game, but those characters look really bland. Now, to be fair, Mass Effect 1’s party members were pretty bland too - only Wrex really stuck out, even fan favorites like Tali and Garrus didn’t really pick it up until ME2. And it is just a trailer, hopefully they’re holding back the good stuff. But I’ve seen too many comments that make me worry that Bioware has gone the way of Blizzard, and over the years lost all their best writers.
The structure of the game appears to be Inquisition in Space. You go from one region to the other solving problems and kicking asses, and back to base to take care of other management issues. Well, that sounds pretty good to me. Also, biotic charge from a jetpack jump? I’m in.
I broke down and preordered when I found that you get a 20% discount if you buy a physical copy from Amazon and are a Prime member. At that price the Deluxe version is cheaper than the standard version if you bought it standard at regular price.
The characters do look a bit cartoony. The structure being Inquisition in space worries the shit out of me.
I really hope side content is interesting and involved.
Is this still a thing?
I don’t even have a PS4, but if I can get the game for cheaper than I will in 6 or whatever months until I have the necessary equipment to play it might be worth buying…
I didn’t know about this sale so thanks!
Oh shit, this also applies to digital PC?! Huh, pre ordering too I guess.
It didn’t seem to work for the digital code for Xbox One (I wanted this for my console though I played the first 3 games on my PC). But if it works for the digital Windows version that’s awesome. ![]()
I’m looking at the deluxe version for PS4, it is normally $69.96 (palindrome fetish?) but with the Prime discount it’s $55.99. The standard version for PS4 is $59.96 but with Prime discount it’s $47.99. (All US dollars.) This will only apply to the preorder though, or up to 2 weeks after release.

I am not seeing it on sale for digital download and I no longer have a DVD drive in my PC (I have one and could install it but can’t be arsed).
I would be flabbergasted if the physical copy didn’t amount to an origin key in a box.
I bought Dragon Age: Inquisition as a physical copy. It does include a DVD, and a key (of course).
But when I had to reinstall Windows I didn’t even use the DVD to reinstall DA:I. I just downloaded the program using the Origin client because Bioware knew I owned the license thanks to the key. Hopefully that will also work with ME:A.
Yeah, I think the last couple of major releases I bought had a token file install on the disk, then I had to get the actual game through hours of downloading from the same servers zillions of other early birds were using. I still feel like if it’s the same price for a physical copy, they owe me a disk. Bastards.
The upcharge for the deluxe and super deluxe versions seemed mostly geared toward cosmetic bullshit plus stuff for online play. I will be playing online with a friend, but I’m not interested in investing extra money in it.
On a related point, I just checked Origin’s page for the comparisons among the editions and discovered that the $99 version really is called Super Deluxe. I thought I was being snarky. You know, I haven’t listened to a game’s soundtrack outside the game since System Shock II. For whom is this a premium? Don’t these things turn up on YouTube? If you want my extra ducats, give me a physical tchotzky I can put in a box and never look at, you puppy mashers!
Look at this shit. I got a Septim coin. I got an InGen ID card. An N7 patch. Two different PipBoys. Do I have a microscopic space fleet? You bet your ass I do! And now they want to upsell me with some armor I won’t use and a pack of random shit for multiplayer? I may not always make good consumer decisions, but I do have standards.
Err…what is the point of distinguishing the two on the website if both are downloaded?
Looking into it, the Super Deluxe version is pretty cool. Screw the pet Pyjak and the soundtrack…the real money is made in the 20 straight weeks of booster packs for multiplayer.
I play ME3’s multiplayer still to this day, and the weapons and armor you get make a HUGE difference.
Worth getting it for that alone
I just hate paying for that stuff, even if earning it in game is a grind. But if you want to play vs. random internet assholes, you’ll quickly get outclassed by people who like virtual property more than money. That’s why I only play with a friend who also doesn’t want to buy booster packs for real world money. We’re still on Bronze, especially since we’ve switched from XBox 360 to PC and none of that shit transfers over (though weirdly the Galactic Readiness seems to), but we have fun.
Installing from a disk is a bit faster, so some people will buy the disk. Also some people like having the disk so that the game is a “thing” rather than just data. Like being able to put a book on a shelf.
If you don’t want yet another disk cluttering up your space buy the download only option.
Although the beauty of ME’s multiplayer is that being outlcassed by internet assholes doesn’t really matter because you’re on a team vs it being a PvP battle. I just haaaaate grinding so much. I never pay for anything while I’m playing, but if I’m already getting the game and am paying for it up front I can justify the cost.
So you’ve never had the team look over your character and vote you out of the party?
Well, yeah. But those are much fewer are farther between than the times I’m included in the party. Even as a level 1 engineer or whatever.
