So where do we stand compared to previous years.
I would be VERY disappointed if American exceptionalism did not result in a new record every year!
Cheerleading is not appropriate.
Records are not comparable as I have gotten better at detecting incidents.

This sort of fell off the radar after noon today.
Counting DWIs seems like it will skew your results. His crime was driving when he shouldn’t, not willful and intended murder. IIRC, that would only have been involuntary manslaughter a few years ago. But maybe I don’t understand the point you are trying to make. Enlighten me.
Thank you all #1 and #4 are corrected.
- 24 January 2019 4* killed (shot) (4th person dies after shooting spree near Penn State University - 6abc Philadelphia)
Incidents 5
Killed 23
Not that I don’t like data, but this feels like the sort of hobby that doesn’t lead one to a long, happy, and fulfilling life.
You might consider a second statistic to track, like lives saved in acts of heroism, etc.
A strange case in California. Also, the Commissioner would welcome any news of charges being brought in the Cockeyville, MD case:
7) 5 February 2019 Palm Springs CA 4 killed (shot) (https://www.kesq.com/news/three-people-found-dead-at-palm-springs-crash-scene-may-have-been-homicide-victims-/1002609968)
Incidents 7
Killed 30
Technically six killed if you count the shooter killed by the police.
The Commissioner has ruled the number dead includes only those killed by criminal means. A killer who commits the traditional suicide does count toward the total. A killer shot by the police is not included.
There is a new #4.
4) 26 January 2019 Gonzales LA 5 killed (shot) (Louisiana sheriff says 'a monster,' Dakota Theriot, admits killing 5 with stolen gun)
Incidents 10
Killed 45
I like that ruling, and I’m glad the shooter is dead, but not counted.
Doesn’t seem right to count suicides, or the auto accidents. If you’re doing that you may as well count all deaths, as all deaths are untimely save the few who actually die from old age. After all, this is a destructive social paradigm.
