Massage therapist dad massages his kid:Benign?

Ok, this is an old thread but the consensus opinion back then was wrong. It’s generally recommended that massage therapists don’t mix roles like this. It blurs an important line. Is an “informed consent” properly done when a father is asking his daughter?

The premise basically assumes that massages are inherently sexualized, and that is not the case. The dad probably (hopefully) views this as no different than any other client, same with the daughter. If that’s the case, then the boyfriend is wrong and probably needs to go.

I’m amused by suggestions (granted, from a decade ago) that the father should view the massage as inherently sexual and, as such, pass his daughter off to one of his friends to do it instead.

My wife is a LMT, and I’ve gotten massages from her numerous times. Never has it been sexual, despite the fact that I find her as hot as a supernova in other circumstances. Our son also gets a massage from her occasionally, and as far as I know his girl friend has no problem with it.

What I talked about had nothing to do with sexuality. Informed consent is a thing for R/LMT in many jurisdictions and they have different rules about it. Being a person with power over another, eg. Parent/child, is extremely problematic.

Added note to this zombie re comparisons with MDs giving pelvic exams to their daughters: any MD (especially male) that did this would be acting unprofessionally. Performing the exam with a nurse or adult female chaperone in the room would be less bad, but still unprofessional.
