Yesterday I was lucky enough to get to go to an air show, complete with the Thunderbirds. How cool is that?
Due to the tight security around the area and also to showing up in the middle of the show, we were forced to park approximately 27 miles from the airport. Okay, maybe it was only about 2.5 miles.
In any case, I had on what most people would call “sensible shoes.” Black Josef Seibel sandals, which I paid a fortune for, knowing that I could wear them and not get hurty feet.
Had I known about the 27 mile hike, I would have worn sneakers anyway. But I didn’t.
So now I have these really WEIRD blisters on my feet. They’re UNDER callouses and feel sort of…deep…if that makes any sense. The one on the ball of my right foot is 3 inches wide…which is a good chunk of the entire width of my foot. I measured it so I could tell you all about it. It’s huge and deep and SORE. The one on the ball of my left foot is slightly smaller, but I have one on my heel there as well, so it makes up for it.
I can’t believe how painful they are. I feel like a complete idiot whining about blisters, which I usually consider to be a minor problem worthy only of a bandaid and a shrug. However, this is painful enough that it’s difficult for me to walk.
Since they’re all underneath callouses, I don’t know what to do. Would bandaging them help relieve the pain so I can walk on them better? Should I see someone about draining the three gallons of fluid out of them. Should I just go ahead and have my check into the hospital now? How long will it take for my body to reabsorb the extra fluid so I can walk again?

Ouch.
