She was complaining about a similar story - dont’ remember exactly what is was, just another PC-craziness story. I asked her: “Just out of curiosity – do you think the Democrats or the Republicans are more responsible for zany stuff like this?”

The problem there is that those terms are already being used for the primary and secondary IDE channels, each of which can have one master and one slave drive. If we go with your suggestion, we’ll have the primary primary, primary secondary, secondary primary and secondary secondary drives. Some people are confused enough as it is.
Careful, there are already Primary and Secondary IDE channels (each of which can currently support a Master and Slave drive). So you’d have the Primary Primary, the Primary Secondary, the Secondary Primary and the Secondary Secondary.
Personally, I’ve just give anyone who complains about the current naming a hearty “fuck you”.
