Masterpiece Theatre: White Teeth; Anyone Read the Book?

Last night’s PBS Masterpiece Theatre was Part 2 of the series, adapted from the novel by Zadie Smith. I loved it; it was well done, with complex themes of British colonialism, racial interplay, Muslim and Animal-rights extremists in Britain, all tied together by strength of odd character, forced-bonds and wry wit. It’s haunted me all day, that’s a rare thing.

Only saw the second part, pieced together the first part by the PBS site. Have any of y’all read the book?

I read the book about a year and a half ago. I really enjoyed it. I thought the characters were pretty cool, and enjoyed the story.

So when I heard they were making it into Masterpiece Theatre, I was intrigued.

Apparently not enough, since I didn’t end up watching it.
