I have insomnia, so I just watched the first three episodes and like it a lot, though I think most of that is due to Perry himself. Anyone else watching? What do you think?
I’m enjoying it so far. I missed last night’s episode, but I can catch up.
Pretty funny show, I like it. Perry seems to be playing another version of Chandler Bing, which I’m ok with. Is it just me of does the leader of the support group look a lot like Courteney Cox from the later seasons of Friends?
I like it.
They’ve gone to some relatively dark places for a sitcom already, and I think the risks have been paying off for the most part.
Not sure how they plan to keep the “group therapy” dynamic going over multiple seasons if the show catches on, though. I imagine real-life groups like that have rather fluid membership. These same people with the same problems could get stale after a couple of years. But I do hope they get the chance to prove me wrong.
I like it, but it conflicts with another show I record and so unless it is on video-on-demand, I don’t see it.
It is a hell of a lot better than Matthew Perry’s last bomb, “Mr. Sunshine” (I think that was the name of it…).
Pretty good so far, although it has lots of similarities with Charlie Sheen’s “Anger Management”, which I find funnier.
Still, will continue to watch Go On…did I hear some comedian the other night say he liked Matthew Perry’s new show, “Goon”?
I think that’s the biggest reason I like it so much. It’s The Chandler Show without a laughtrack. I never realized how much I liked Perry and/or Chandler until watching this show last night.
I was wondering the same thing, but then realized it’s not uncommon for sitcoms to ignore their premises after a while. Community is not really about community college anymore, for example, and I don’t think anyone cares because the group dynamic and its surreality is what people watch it for.
I’m already a little tired of the weird guy with the beard.
I’m impressed that they got Rachel Maddow to make a cameo. Smart, hot, and a great hockey player too.
We saw the first episode - I thought a couple of times that they were going to do the usual, stereotyped thing, and then they went a different, funny direction. Yay! I’ll give it another try.
Seth McFarlane as Ryan Lochte on SNL?
I’ve watched the first two episodes. Some funny lines and I enjoy Matthew Perry’s mannerisms. A couple of times I sensed the show flirting with “very special episode” or “learned a valuable lesson” territory, and I hope they resist going that way.
Of the supporting roles, I can’t stand the Mr. K character, and I don’t know if it’s the role, or the actor, Brett Gelman. He played a very similar type character in The Other Guys, and it was really unappealing there as well.
All in all, I think it’s okay and could be pretty good if it finds its legs.
I think it is terrific. I really appreciate your posting this because I forgot the name and could not find it in TV listings. I keep forgetting to Google him.
I think it’s funny, but I am an unabashed Matthew Perry fan.
Loved friends, liked Mr. Sunshine, and like this.
I’m a sports fan too so I like that aspect too.
I wouldn’t worry too much about that. The Bob Newhart Show ran for six years and managed to keep group therapy going.
Dear John… not so much.
I’ve seen the pilot and half of another episode. I like it.
Loved Friends, really WANTED to like Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip but got exasperated with Aaron Sorkin after a while, liked Mr. Sunshine despite it being Sorkin Lite, REALLY like Go on. Hoping it hangs in there.
It’s on against “Modern Family” tonight - sheesh. Why don’t they just take it out behind the barn and put a bullet in its head?
