Do we even care any more?
KY split between Sanders and Clinton
No results from Oregon yet.
Maybe we should start discussing what has to happen for the Dem superdelegates to switch to Sanders. IMO not gonna happen. Clinton is too establishment and will not be indicted.
Over on the other side, Donald Trump got not quite 36% of the Republican vote when he’s running unopposed. A win’s a win, but he’s got to be a little disappointed with that, right?
By demographics OR should be a Sanders blow out. One poll of 304 likely voters is not enough to change that assessment. Really a 30 plus point Sanders’ margin should be expected.
OR is a lot more conservative outside of Portland. Not enough to make the state go red in the general election, but enough to give a moderate candidate some teeth. I am expecting a Sanders win, but it might be closer than that.
I lived in Oregon; Bernie will win Oregon, which is not a surprise at all. You have to think of states in terms of the slice of the vote, not the vote as a whole. THat’s what I’ve been trying to point out to the Bernie Bros who are convinced that Sanders is gonna win against Trump. Sanders will do well with white liberals in Oregon. The white liberals in Oregon are, well, really, really white and really, really liberal. Oregon’s gonna go blue anyway, so it’s not like it matters. Bernie wins states that are inconsequential. What Bernie Bros need to understand is that Hillary drives votes that are diverse and that are up for grabs. Bernie has no chance against Trump or Cruz or anyone. He needs to get his sorry ass out of the race so his supporters can take a few bong hits and chill out between now and November.
Bernie just looks more and more like a foolish old man upset because the system didn’t see it his way. I wouldn’t put it past him to run as an independent and guaranty a Trump victory, all the while complaining that he’s not getting a fair shot.
This is precisely one of the reasons I moved from leaning-Bernie to grudgingly-for-Hillary. I became more strongly-for-Hillary and against-Bernie after seeing continuing awful behavior and extremist attitudes from some of his supporters.
Bernie needs to drop out soon and start rallying for Hillary, or his campaign, and more importantly some of his extremist followers, are going to do much more harm than good.
Eh, I don’t mind if he wants to stay in the race till the voting is done. But he really isn’t doing anyone (including himself) any favours by feeding his followers conspiracy theories about how he’s being robbed of the nomination, rather than just face the fact that his opponent used the sinister strategy of getting several more million people to vote for her.
He ran to get a more public airing for his policy views, and he’s done a decent job of that. But a few more weeks of this, and he’ll mainly be remembered as a crank. At this rate, I expect him show up a the convention demanding to see Hillary’s long-form birth-certificate.
