Today - Revenge of the Fifth.
I’m not aware of May 4th having any significance anywhere other than it being turned into Star Wars (or Jedi) Day, but then I’m not American (which I’m assuming that poem is…?)
I took that to mean Cal hasn’t seen Star Wars, or was perhaps being sarcastic…?
gallic shrug
The “poem” is actually the song Ohio by Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, which was a protest song about the Kent State shootings of May 4, 1970 in the state of Ohio when National Guardsmen fired at a group of students, killing four and wounding nine others. It occurred after President Nixon announced the invasion of Cambodia and protests were held on campus, although not all of the students shot at were protesters. In any event, the shootings were unprovoked and there was much condemnation of Nixon and of the National Guard. It is a notable event in U.S. history.
And not being American, I was not aware of that situation.
So I’m just doing my part, humble as it may be. We’re all here to fight ignorance, aren’t we?
If you consider not knowing the history of a country you don’t live in, then yes, I’m ignorant.
So do we mud wrestle, or wha’…?
