There’s a little turnoff near where I live next to a river. I guess it’s a fishing spot, but I pulled over because I’d recently seen eagles and osprey there. Got out of the car and looked over the edge and some shithead had thrown an old TV down the bank into the water. And apparently an old office chair as well.
There was also the usual crap left by drunk fishermen – bud lite cans and broken glass. I can’t even contemplate what would make someone go to a pretty spot like that and deliberately dump crap, but if I ever become King of the Universe, littering is going to be a caning offense. I don’t know as there’s a demographic that can be reached by corporal punishment where reason and decency fail, but I’m willing to run the experiment.
I’m getting tired of being the magical trash fairy that makes other people’s trash vanish from river banks.
TV’s have serial numbers, by which the owner can be identified. Track them down, and either leave it on their front lawn (illegal) or notify the appropriate authorities.
Well, if you really believe that the kind of clod who would tip a CRT over a riverbank is also the kind of careful record-keeper who sends in his registration cards when he buys home electronics, that might work. Although I’m a bit unclear on how I’d winnow the 20 year old information out of Sony or RCA or whoever.
We live just above a lovely road that winds down to the beach. It has greenbelt/trees on both sides with a creek on one side. On hot summer days it’s a wonderfully cool respite from the heat to drive that road. Unfortunately, people have decided it’s a great place to dump their unwanted furniture and garbage. Our city is great about picking it up within a day or two but I can’t *imagine *why anyone would do that. Sickening.
Everyone involved in ‘The Bachelor’ should be sent to the Island of Lost Toys forever. Or maybe Monster Island. Especially people who watch this train wreck of whores and dipshits.
Because they can. Because there are no people around late at night/early morning to catch them in behavior that they know is anti-social. Because they only care about their own problems and not about anyone else. Because, in short, they are jerks.
I updated my old thread about the horrible change in management that happened in February. But I wanted to put it here, too. An anti-rant. Three upper management people were fired today. Two replacements started today. A bunch of Board members were also present and accountable today. It’s been a really good day.
Semi-related, I have to admire those people who are able to spray graffiti on highway signs that span the interstate. Where I live, I can’t imagine a period where there’s so little traffic that one could scale the support and spray without being seen.
Don’t forget that they are also cheap-asses who don’t want to pay the fee at the local dump. If the city will (eventually) clean it up for free, why would they want to pay?
I don’t think they are planning that far ahead. If the city just left all the junk there, they would just think it was a good place to dump junk and keep doing it. Yes, they don’t want to pay, which falls under “care only about their own problems and not about anyone else.”
Completely agree. I used to know people who would illegally dump stuff just because they didn’t want to spend a couple of bucks getting rid of it legally. There is a scenic drive here that had such a huge problem with illegal dumping that they blocked off the road and put motion-sensing cameras to catch folks. People are assholes.
Hell, in our county the trash and recycling centers are FREE and people still dump shit. I watched a couple of guys feed an old couch into the crusher bin one day, so it’s not like the place won’t take a few bags of trash. It just infuriates me.
A couple of weeks ago, I was complaining that my six month old was up every two hours overnight.
Now I’m up hourly, half hourly, and on one lovely occasion, after just ten minutes of precious sleep, and I’m stupidly grateful when she lets me sleep for two whole uninterupted hours.
