Not that I think it has anything to with race, but Nicole Richie gets nowhere near the level of attention that Paris Hilton does.
She’s black? Seriously? This girl?
What has she inherited?
So, obviously, GuyNblueJeans, is upset with Shrub “giving” all those billions for AIDS not for any reasons that have to do with “immoral behavior,” but because it’s going to teh darkies. Nice.
She self-identifies as african-american.
She’s the daughter of singer Lionel Ritchie, who made a load of dosh back in the 80’s.
Can I do that?
Has he died?
If you have two black parents and black godparents, presumably.
No, but then again, neither has Paris Hilton’s dad Richard.
I had no idea it was so restrictive. Her dad is Latin American. Does that disqualify her?
How does Paris’ father being alive make Nicole an heiress? In order to inherit, the fortune must be transferred after the death of a relative. Is Paris related to Nicole?
This guy also advocated eugenics and forced sterilization [not for Jews, just for Ted Koppel and people on welfare] in GD. Why the fuck didn’t I go ahead and Pit him then???
You know, I guess this explains why the references to Nazis in that thread didn’t deter him.
The point was that Paris gets called an "heiress’ too even though she hasn’t inherited yet.
The words “heir” and “heiress” designate some who is entitled to inherit something as well as someone who already has. Just because Lionel Ritchie is still alive doesn’t mean his daughter is not an heir to his fortune.
I think he should change his username to GuyNBrownShirt.
Her biological father has not been publicly acknowledged by her, as far as I know. It may be Latin American musician Pete Escovedo. Her biological mother is also mostly unknown.
However, she has been raised by black adoptive parents since she was an infant, and has decided that she’d rather consider herself part of that family.
Because Paris Hilton is also described as an heiress, and that apparently hasn’t seemed to bother your overly-semantic self any.
Not really. Savage is Jewish.
So when you said that being black means having two black parents, you were not referring to biology? Anyone raised by black parents, no matter how white, is black? Is anyone raised by white parents then white?
How can you possibly know that?
My father is alive. Is my sister an heiress? She will, presumably, be left something in his will.
If she is designated in the will then yes, she is an heiress. So are you probably – well not an heiress, an heir.
You seem to be awfully bothered by the idea that an adopted person might want to identify with the people that raised her from infancy instead of with the biological parents she never knew until recently.
Please cite any thread on the SMDB where you took issue with the labeling of Paris as an “heiress” because her father was still alive.
Oh, and feel free to throw in any cite where you took issue with Patty Hearst also being labeled an heiress, despite the fact that her dad didn’t pass away until 2000.
Considering you seem to love pointless semantic minutiae so, yes. Technically, she is an heiress, just as you an heir to your father’s undoubtedly vast and hilton-like fortune.
So lots and lots and lots of folks are heiresses, which makes the designation redundant. Normally, the term refers to one who inherits a great fortune, or who, as you pointed out, will inherit a great fortune. Paris Hilton is heir to a great fortune. Nicole Richie has a wealthy father. Not the same thing at all. And she’s about as black as my Aunt Fanny.
You seem to make great, unsupported leaps of logic. I am not the least bit bothered. And you also seem to be unable to answer a direct question. Is a black person raised by white people white?
There’s that pesky logic thingy again. The claim is yours, and therefore the burden of proof.
She’s a lot richer than that, to be gal-palling around with Paris Hilton.
She’s blacker than one of her black godfathers.
Nicole Ritchie considers herself at least partly black, because the parents she’s known all her life are black.
If you have a problem with that, feel free to take it up with her. I have no issue with it at all, but then again, I actually have adopted cousins who are not biologically the same race as I am.
To do what, show that you haven’t said something? The positive claim is yours, not mine.
Okay. Here’s all the posts where you say the same thing about anyone else labeled “heiress” when their fathers are still alive.
…
Done! Now feel free to show one bit of positive evidence that I’m wrong.
I did not watch the video but here is some validation to the charges against the individuals in the Newsome/Christian case.
Outside of the ravings of racist nutcases, has anyone made a statistical comparison of “hate crime” charges of black on white vs. white on black crimes (or for that matter white on Hispanic/Asian/gay/Martian/etc. vs. Hispanic/Asian/gay/Martian/etc. on white crimes)? What about Hispanic on Asian hate crimes? I would be interested to see how crimes are reported and charged. Wasn’t there a recent case of a man being beaten up by a couple lesbians?
As for Paris, I’m glad that she was set free. You combine the staph infection that is running rampant through that jail with whatever fauna is running rampant through her body and you have a recipe for a pandemic.
This is the claim. Are you saying that you did not make it?
Not redundant, just usually not very interesting.
In the entertainment media, that seems to be the case, but the dictionary definition of the word does not require either a dead parent or a great fortune.
I don’t think I see the difference. I believe (correct me if I’m wrong) that Lionel Ritchie’s personal worth is in nine figures. How much wealth does it take to qualify as a “fortune?”
I have not offered any opinion at all on how she self-identifies racially.
