May the Fourth be With You in the MMP

Well, I’m a right bastard.

After being harassed for over a week at work by a telemarketer selling home alarms, I made an appointment for them to come next Tuesday to install. Just one catch: I gave them the address of the front door of my office building, and at a time when I KNOW I won’t be around.

If someone calls this afternoon to confirm, I’ll cancel and say sucks to be you, but dayum it was fun to feed them a load of bullshit over the phone.

I think that was one of the firearms stolen from a National Guard amory.

Howdy from large and in charge downtown Donalsonville, Jawja! I know y’all are fascinated with my exotic travels today.

BBBobbio that’s evile! Of course, I see that as a good quality.

I’ve pulled that stunt before. Back when dinosaurs roamed the earth and I was still a bachelor, I had a salesman come to give me an estimate for vinyl siding on the brick apartment building I was living in.

Blurf. I have so much blurf I even missed posting in here on Moanday to complain about my levels of blurfage. Actually, Monday was a public holiday here so I went to visit my doting parent - she rang me on Saturday to tell me she’d had another fall, this time it was on the bus so she’d been carted off to the horsepickle for x-rays and stuff. Luckily the only damage she’s done is more bruising to her already poorly hand so we are grateful that, if nothing else.

Today I have just about had it with people wanting stupid things at stupid times, and not bothering to tell us important things that would make scheduling exams and stuff so much easier. If your precious snowflake is allowed extra time, laptops, rest breaks etc, it would really really help if you bothered to tell us so we could make alternative arrangements for them.

And it’s heaving down outside. And I have no cake. Pity me, dammit!

I had no idea what I was getting into by posting in this thread, but Vunderbob’s cartoon made me really hungry for bacon.

Happy Toosday!

It’s a warm 70 degrees outside but a bit overcast.

We may go to the armpit today.
I don’t want to but Sah-son does. I told him he needs to get his damn license and start taking himself.
I need to go anyway, I have papers that need to be signed and notarized with the nieces. Maybe this trip we all can get together and get it done. I also told the son this trip I want my tapestries taken down and moved. The cheap one isn’t a problem but the nice one is over 40 years old and will need to be handled gently. I’ve been nervous about moving it but it needs to get done. So that, a box of craft supplies, an antique chest of drawers (also nervous about moving it) and I am done. My mother wants me to take an old office chair to the dump but I saw that I can replace the pads on the arms so I’ll take it.
Then there’s an old dresser with a matching night stand I can take. I’m thinking about it.

*Nobody *has any idea what they’re getting into by posting in the MMP. And then it’s too late!!! <evil maniacal laughter and chortling>

I’ve laundered and folded all of our white and white-ish garments (my sleep shirts aren’t white, but they’re pastels and they benefit from bleach, so they go in the white load.) I also watched 3 episodes of The Gilmore Girls. Yeah, I know, I’m way behind the times. It appears to be a cute series and I’m enjoying it, especially without all the commercial brakes. Near as I can tell, fully 15-20 minutes of each hour episodes is set aside for ads. ugh.

Once the sun moves to the front of the house and the back deck starts to enjoy some shade, I’m heading out with a bucket and sponge to scrub the white vinyl railings. I don’t wish to be blinded or sunburned, so I’ll wait for some shade. Maybe I’ll go play in my studio for a little bit. I have 2 more monster jars to finish.

Aaaaaaarrrrrrrrggggggggggggggggggggggggg! my stupid network computer is not working and it is driving me crazy. Can’t get anything done. It’s a work stoppage as far as I am concerned so I guess I’ll just read the internet today and maybe try to find a movie or something to watch since I can’t do any work.

I decided since one corner of the deck is shaded by a bit of tree, I’d start scrubbing. I’ve got about 1/3 of the railing done, plus I did a hunk of siding that was within reach (with a long-handled brush.) The tables and gliders are back in place in that corner, and the pieces I need to move to finish the rails are smaller and lighter, so there’s that.

I had to come in for a drink and a sweatband. My eyes were burning from sweat rolling into them. Luckily, I found my sweetie’s stash, so I’m good there. And in a little bit, I’ll get back to scrubbing. White railings are so much more attractive than greenish stained railings. And the long-handled brush makes it a lot easier, especially considering my arms aren’t long enough otherwise.

Go me!

Gothic, the MMP is sort of a funky little neighborhood in the city. Some of us “reside” here and some just come for a visit. I think there’s a corner lot for sale if you want to move in. :stuck_out_tongue:

Last night in the studio, I was scanning pictures when, on the last one, it scanned it in PDF instead of jPeg. Since I can’t edit in PDF, I deleted it and tried again. Nope. I checked the settings; they were for jPeg. I uninstalled the printer and reinstalled it, then rebooted. Nope. One evening of messing around with that POS printer that could have been spent on the rest of the project. I’m going to have my geeky nephew take a look and if he can’t figure it out, I’ll get a new one. Since I have a spare set of ink for this one, I can still use it as a printer and the new one to scan, if it comes to that.

SIL and I have decided to take some mental health time Friday and go rambling toward Chattanooga. I have to show up to irk to crank out morning reports, but then, it’s off to find some trouble.

Howdy from large and in charge downtown Bainbridge, Jawja! Next post will be from da cave.

The best part, Gothic, is the parking and admission are both free for life.

And the railings are all white again!! I decided against attacking the siding because too much needs to be done there and I ran out of steam. Maybe tomorrow… or the next day… we shall see.

Anyway, that’s one more item crossed off my to-do list. HUZZAH!! And the peasants rejoiced!!!

Plus there was a branch of azalea in the way, so I broke it back and brought it in the house - pink blossoms on the mantel!

I quit till my sweetie gets home and I have to create something for supper. Whew! Not as exciting as swampy’s globe-trotting, but what ya gonna do??

Well
I’m off to the armpit.

I hope I get most everything done.
If I can’t get the nieces together then I’m going to change my trust to take them out.

I think nobody can compete with me for the honor of most boring life.
However when I look at my past boring is good.

Howdy from da cave! Day two and the tour of the southwest forty has been survived. OYKW is swipin’ The General’s dindin cause well, I’s tahrd and don’t wanna make dindin. I shall do better tomorrow. I took cubed steak outta da freezer so I’ve made a commitment towards tomorrow.

I talked with a friend on Skype and worked on music today.

Going easy for supper - mac-n-cheese-n-peas. Which is good - that’s about all I can manage. I did empty the dishwasher, so there’s that. I still have to put my unders away. What I need is a soak in a hot tub - not a bathtub with hot water, a real hot tub. <sigh>

Me too. I think I’ll make a BL for dinner. On Jewish rye just because I’m tasteless like that.

Good afternoon! What a difference a week makes.

Yesterday and today have been much more enjoyable at work.

Tomorrow I have an hour and a half meeting with all the managers to basically tell them how to do their jobs… It should be interesting. This is coming with our big bosses’ blessing.

**Gothic **the MMP is the Dope’s version of the corner bar where we all meet up for neighborly chatter. There are a few historical quirks (many of which are noted in the sticky at the top of the MPSIMS folder).

It’s a nice place devoid of (most) of the board’s snark and bickering.
