May the Fourth Be With You!

…and happy birthday to all my fellow Star Wars Day Peeps

This is not exactly how I expected my fiftieth to turn out…

The Fourth will be with you…Always.
Happy Birthday.

You’ve just taken your first step into a larger world.

May the Fourth Be With You!

And also with you.

happy birthday!!

I was hosting a sprint demo today (technical people showing what work they’ve developed over the last two weeks) and had the following happen:

Engineer A was going through some details on screen, showing how the new feature worked when Engineer B jumped in and said Disney was on the line, and there was an intruder in the Death Star. Engineer A shifted the demo screen, found the intruder and demonstrated the new feature’s ability to isolate and remove them. The intruder was called Rogue One.

They won the demo today.

I found a special Zoom video background with dancing stormtroopers just for today…
only to have the first day in over a month with no Zoom meetings scheduled :frowning:

Send it to Zoom…! ( Oh…two…one…three…four…!)

Ok, I actually do have a Star Wars story for today, May the Fourth. Sort of.
So, my youngest is a part of a group at his school, “The Comic Bookies”… and they all got together to buy T-shirts to celebrate the very last Star Wars movie around last Christmas. He never asks for anything to be honest, so I was happy to put it on my card… and a week later a package shows up that clearly has a T-shirt inside. Anyway, he’s busy with school and other presents, so the package never gets opened.

So, Five Months Later (today)… I get notification that due to their inability to deliver on the shirts, we are getting a refund for the Star Wars T-shirt. Now, I was a little confused; I mean we got that, didn’t we? Does that mean it’s free? So, once conference calls are all sorted, I dug through some things and I found the unopened package. I called him over, reminded him of it, and had him open it in front of me. Nope, it wasn’t a Star Wars T-shirt. Evidently he had entered a contest concerning a video game he’d gotten for Christmas, and had won a T-shirt from them instead.

TL;DR My son never got his Star Wars T-shirt; what he actually received was The T-shirt of DOOM…!

No kidding, this is how I remember my ZIP code.

And while everyone is celebrating, pause for a moment to remember those who died at Kent State University 50 years ago today.

Am I the only one who says, "May the fourth be wis you"today?
