Yep, it’s a North Carolina product. They have an extensive line, and they also do a special Christmas/holiday edition. To me, most of their products are as sweet as, or even a bit sweeter, than a typical mead.
I know it’s not related to food poisoning, but if I eat too much fried or greasy food in one sitting, I have about 2 to 3 hours before there’s distress. In people who have had gastric bypass surgery, this is called gastric dumping; I’m not sure what causes it in the rest of us.
No kidding, she’s bouncing off the walls most of the time (especially on Fridays). And the wine box is still in the kitchen.
It’s Victoria Day weekend here in Canada. Being retired I couldn’t care less about long weekends, but Victoria Day (along with Canada Day on July 4) is fucking fireworks explosion time! The place sounds like a fucking war zone before and after the holiday, peaking around Saturday and Sunday. Late May in particular is generally just the perfect kind of weather for having the windows wide open, so the assholes blowing things up to make really loud noises really piss me off in a big way.
A very petty one, but I hate when a female character is described as “feisty”. It just feels diminutive and she’s “tough, but not really.” You rarely (or at least I haven’t) see a male character called “feisty.”
I suspect alcohol is frequently involved - which raises the prospect of Really Bad Outcomes to a rather high level.
Our house nearly burned down because of morons with illegal fireworks, one New Year’s Eve. We heard a funny whooosh sound, then a few minutes later our smoke detectors started alarming. The fire turned out to be in some mulch in the backyard: some kind of airborn device had gone horribly off-course, travelled a couple of blocks. and bounced off our steel siding. Luckily, it did not go 2 feet in either direction, or it would have gone through a window and the story would have had a very different ending.
Well, fuck. I was going to complain about 60 Minutes being majorly delayed again thanks to some sporting event, and the first thing I see is the notification that dropzone died.
Puts it in perspective.
Fuck this world that takes the good ones too soon (for us).
This is the week before Memorial Day. Apparently there is some law that compels every newscast, local and national, to mention that Memorial Day is the unofficial start of the summer season every single newscast this week. Jeeezus. If everyone acknowledges that it is the unofficial start of summer then in my view it is indeed the official start of summer.
So, we have an elderly pet cat who has diabetes. She requires an injection of Insulin twice a day.
In the past, when we are away from home, we have been able to arrange twice a day home visits, for feeding, litter cleaning, and the injections. We found a website that matches you up with a care provider, and the person we located has been great.
We have a trip scheduled for early July, so I tried to book the person again but they are not available. Drat! Okay. Surely the website has other care givers I can book with. As I go through all of the other people who are listed, many are not available, many don’t do two visits a day, and others don’t handle injections. Drat! Okay. Maybe there is another service available? I’ll call my vet for a recommendation. They do have a recommendation! Yay. I go to their website…AAAANND…not available. Drat! Okay. Maybe there is a boarding facility around? There are seemingly infinite dog boarding facilities. Cat boarding? Not so much. But I do find one - let’s check availability. Nope. Drat!
Seriously, I live in a large urban area, but my so far exhaustive search has not turned up an option for cat care for our absence. Bugger!
