The fact that the cat was rambunctious and territorial is not one insignficant aspect that you couldn’t possibly have foreseen as important, it was a good reason for getting rid of the cat that FEW people would have even argued with. Personally, I don’t find it very truthful, it feels like it was just thrown in as a weak justification after everyone started piling on.

One may argue that it was a waste of my time, but I would argue it wasn’t any more a waste of “everyone’s” time than anything else posted on this board. I would actually say it wasn’t a waste of my time either, but that’s because I’ve been home sick the past two days and really don’t have much else on my plate, so it was as useful an expenditure as any.
I will sincerely apologize to anyone who felt that my post was a waste of their time, with the exception of Liberal who obviously didn’t read it.
And I still don’t see where I attacked his daughter. Him, absolutely. I’ll full cop to that. His daughter’s actions, you bet. But with the exception of my last post, I haven’t attacked her directly. And even that was meant as an example of how a direct attack (by me) would look, since he seems to have some odd ideas about what form it may take. Ooh, wait- with the exception of the “apples not falling far from the tree” thing, but I was intending that as a slap at the odd logic that comes from cigarettes = okay, cat =/ okay that pretty closely mimics some of the convoluted thinking Dad has displayed over the years.
Please (and again, I mean this most sincerely) point out where I directly attacked his daughter, and I’ll happily retract my statement. Not to say I won’t qualify it, but I’ll happily retract it.

I shouldn’t have taken the bait and posted again in the original thread, but when I posted the second time I wasn’t even arguing about the daughter/cat thing - Liberal had snarkily posted “wrong on both counts” with no further words and I wanted clarification, as I was repeating things he himself had posted. “Please explain how I was wrong” and boom - Pit thread. It must be a tight rope you’re walking on Liberal, ouch.

Everyone has limited resources, whether the resources be time and money, or living space, or whatever, and everyone has constraints on their resources, such as family situtaion, medical concerns, etc.
Who are you to determine that the OP’s daughter has “the space and resources to care for a pet, and chooses not to?”
You’ve made the same decision–to have as many pets as you can care for–as the daughter has, based on, you know, her own resources. You don’t know anything about her, other than what Liberal has posted, so how can you say she does have the resources? She determined that she does not, so there it is.

Who am I? I’m the chick that can do math. A month’s worth of cancer sticks is about $30.00. A 20 pound bag of cat chow is ten bucks.
But by and large I agree with her choice. A pet that will be neglected when a newborn joins the household should have been given a new home. Maybe she didn’t try hard enough to find someone else to care for the cat. Maybe having a smoke is more important than caring for her pet. But ultimately the animal shelter is a better choice than dumping the family pet beside the road.
Here is the thing- Liberal took the opportunity to crap in a happy MPSIMS thread. Then chose to grandstand in the Pit. He gave quite a bit of personal information in order to justify his negative action, thus opening up this dialog. I, as a member of this board, have the same right to counter and argue as anyone else.

We joined this board in the same month of the same year. I have never interacted with you before, and I have nothing against you. You keep piling it on and piling it on when what I said (or actually, simply asked) about in the OP was turned around BY YOU into a (perceived) attack on your daughter. I questioned her actions based on what YOU posted about her, (I never even called her a name, imagine that, where is this so called attack?), and it turns into this?
Might as well tune Lib out, Boscibo. His time away from the board, it appears, hasn’t cured his addiction to attention-whoring, vicious mud-slinging, hyper-sensitivity to (mis)perceived slights, and all-around nastiness. I give it three months, max, before he’s either suspended (again) or begging the mods to save him from himself (again).
