Good idea; that would no doubt have convinced her that you were not in fact a scary violent person and she had no cause to be afraid of you. :dubious:

Honestly, I get that guys find it irritating or insulting to be suspected of being potentially dangerous (and I agree that it’s idiotic for a woman to openly project suspicion and fear towards somebody she thinks might be potentially dangerous, instead of remaining alert but as calm as possible). But you know, your fundamental human goodness and decency aren’t immediately perceptible to the superficial observation of random strangers.

Maybe try cutting scared women a little more slack instead of fixating on how their fear is an insult and offense toward yourself. In any case, fantasizing about the violence you would have inflicted on a scared woman if her fear had led her to assault you in what she believed to be self-defense is probably not a good way to make women less scared to be around you.

If someone assaults me without cause, I have every right to defend myself. Placing yourself in a position where you are showing the other person a fucking weapon and thus threatening them with it is illegal and FUCKING STUPID.

You know what? I’ve thrown exactly two punches in my entire 38 years of adulthood. But you spray me with mace because you’re losing your shit and I haven’t done anything, I’m going to feed you the damn mace and leave you in a pool of blood. Doesn’t matter to me who the fuck you are - your gender is irrelevant.

And the whole ‘things in other people’s heads’ thing is delusional. I can’t read her mind or know her history, nor can someone else read my mind and know my intent or my feelings about it, other than by the look on my face, which as I said, I kept neutral despite my irritation. Hell, I didn’t even look in her direction or say anything to her because I expected she’d panic and attack me.

Defend her all you want, but she’s the assailant in this scenario and I was just an innocent person in an elevator. Her being a woman or her history do not enter into this and they’re not an excuse for her behavior.

But hey, you felt the need to jump in, assail and insult me and white knight some person you don’t know from 30 years ago, about a situation you know very little about. Feel proud of yourself? Fuck off.
