What luck for McCain that he pulled off this goof on a newsday devoted nearly entirely to Obama’s speech. Lucky for him that Liebermann took his lips off McCain’s butt long enough to correct him. My friends, what we have here is a man well past his prime and starting to spoil.
He should have broken into his “Bomb Iran” song at that moment to make it a perfect day.

It sounds like he’s old & confused.
Not a good sign.

Unless you’re his running mate . . .

What odds on him picking Joe Lieberman as a “unity ticket”?

Unlikely methinks as it would cheese-off the Republican base that already distrusts him. Furthermore, I think Democrats have largely soured on Joe to the point of disgust. He wouldn’t deliver CT for McCain and he would hold little appeal, I think to blue collar swing voters. What’s more, he looks old and McCain doesn’t need that.

Kudos to Lieberman for correcting McCain privately, and kudos to McCain for admitting his error immediately.

As NurseCarmen pointed out, this wasn’t the first time he’d made that mistake - apparently he made it multiple times that day before Joe corrected him.
But how can anyone whose claimed strong point is his supposed foreign policy bona fides be at all confused about that, at this point in the Iraq war?
Talk about being open to a Rovian “attack his strength” approach. You’d hardly have to use Rovian tactics - the truth would suffice.

All things be open to change, Lieberman has said in certain terms (in regards to rumors of a McCain offer) that he’s not interested in being a presidental running mate ever again.
Well, that’s a relief. Not that I seriously thought it possible, but just the idea, well – let’s just say it makes a helluva diet aid.
I am still holding out hope that we will have some alternative views here.
