McCartney & Wings: Hand Across the Water

In the first half of the song, the “Uncle Albert” part, there are spoken lyrics:

We’re so sorry, uncle albert,
But we haven’t done a bloody thing all day.
We’re so sorry, uncle albert,
But the kettle’s on the boil
And we’re so eas’ly called away.

Does anyone know whose voice that is?

Paul’s? I can’t find a cite at the moment, but I’ve always thought it was Paul, and I will be absolutely dumbfounded if someone says it isn’t.

It’s Paul, putting on the same silly voice he used on “Yellow Submarine.”

Both Paul and John did the spoken “Captain’s orders” parts of Yellow Submarine, spoken through tin cans to help the effect.

I never thought it was anyone but Paul speaking in Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey.

Uhhhhhhhhh…

It’s Paul

It’s a silly voice. I thought it might be John Cleese.

He did the voice in a concert back in the day. He cupped his hands around the microphone when he did it. He only had to do the first line, the audience finished that part for him.
