McDonald's Menu

Here in New Mexico they serve green chile on hamburgers upon request and also have breakfast burritos with green chile. I notice the McRibs being advertised on the signs. It’s all an abomination, though.

I for one LOVE McRibs, but alas we don’t get them here in Delaware. The ones I always get are drippin’ in sauce and have pickles and chopped onions (I don’t ask for it that way, its just the only way I’ve seen them).

When I was in Russia the Moscow McD’s had just normal stuff, but after 3 weeks of cabbage and potatoes me and my other "study-abroader"s couldn’t care less. That was a while ago though. Who knows, maybe they have McBorscht now

And recently when I was in Boston they had McLobsterRoll. It wasn’t filet-o-fish-like. I looked like your classic lobster roll (chopped lobster mixed with mayo and served in a hotdog bun). I didn’t try it. Just couldn’t bring my self to pay 5 bucks for anything at Mc D’s. Plus that line from Cheers kept running through my head about “loobster” at the Hungrey Hefer.

I would like McRibs more if they could figure out some way to remove the hard white chunks you occasionally bite into. :frowning:

In Wisconsin you can occasionally get a McBratwurst. “shudder”

While I don’t quite share JamesCarroll’s enthusiasm for them, McRibs are not bad. Around here they come with both pickles and chopped onions.

In our local McD’s stores at one time or another, we have had
[ul]
[li]pizza–both preassembled/frozen and fresh/assembled in the store (at different times)[/li][li]spaghetti[/li][li]lasagna[/li][li]fried chicken–whole pieces, like KFC–with sides[/li][/ul]

Also, biscuits and gravy are standard around here and the breakfast burritos used to be (don’t know if they still are).

Do they have salads everywhere? We now have the weirdo McSalad Shakers but we used to carry just regular salads in tray containers.

Gross as it may seem, when I worked there, I used to make myself these odd little chicken roll-up things. We still had a grilled chicken salad and I would take some of the chicken, put it on a flour tortilla (for the breakfast burritos), add some minced onions, pickles (I put pickles on everything), cheese and mild picante sauce (breakfast burritos) and heat it for a few seconds. Mmmmmmm! Those things were awesome! I would buy those if they sold them!

What about condiments?

Here in the midwest we generally have only ketchup for our fries. While in Salt Lake City recently they had a pinkish sauce for dipping that was fantastic. It tasted like a ketchup/mayo mix.
Any odd dipping sauces out there?
Can anyone tell me what that pink stuff was… now I’m really starting to wonder…

In Finland, I devoured the “McRuis” (literally translated, McRye); it’s pretty much a Big Mac, except with a rye bread roll. As you’ve probably guessed, rye bread is big up there. And it was actually pretty tasty.

I first saw the McRib sandwich in Texas in the mid-eighties, me and my friends would make fun of the commercial (‘McRib. CHOMP!’). They went away for a while, then came back as a ‘Limited time only’ thing. They recently came back in a smaller version, that is 99 cents.

I noticed that the chicken head was in an order of chicken wings. They don’t serve chicken wings at McDonalds around here, only chicken nuggets and chicken sandwiches. I have never seen pizza, bratwurst, or any variations on the typical McDonald burgers. I don’t like McDonalds and I rarely eat at them, though.

One regional burger I like is the Wendy’s Texas Double Quarter Pounder. It’s a 99 cent burger with two tiny patties (adding up to an uncooked weight of 4 oz., of course), lettuce, pickle, onion, tomato, and a bunch of mustard. I like them because I hate mayonaisse on burgers, barely tolerate ketchup, and don’t like to special order from fast food places - so I only get burgers from places that make them how I like.

Hey! Leave the Saimin alone! Okay, okay, I admit, it’s salty and the noodles are in a soggy clump, but it’s not the worst I’ve had… [sub]close to it, though…[/sub]

In Hawaii, McDonald’s also has Fanta fruit punch, and Portuguese Sausage, Eggs, and Rice during breakfast. I didn’t even realize they might be unique to Hawaii until I was in Las Vegas at 5am, groggily wondering why the menu looked different…

We haven’t had the McRib in a while, but I think the McTeri sandwich is a regular menu item now. When I worked there a few years ago, it was a more a frequent, long-term special, if that makes any sense.

Do any other McDonalds out there have the “Big N Tasty” or something? I think it’s a BLT with a hamburger patty. I’ve only seen it at one McD’s so far here.

Out here in the Los Angeles area they have a (relatively) new slate of menu items involving guacamole. I believe they call it the Fiesta Menu, but I’m not 100% sure about that. I don’t much care for the green stuff, so I haven’t sampled any of them - I think it’s a beef sandwich, a chicken sandwich, and a few other things.

The only McD’s in this area (that I know of) that regularly serves McPizzas is a huge one in downtown Glendale - they have an expanded menu, for some reason.

I’ve never seen a McDonald’s serve fried chicken wings out here.

I think they do have a “Big ‘N’ Tasty” on the menus out here. I don’t remember precisely what’s on it, but Audrey’s description sounds right to me.

absoul: it’s called Friet Sause (Fry Sauce) in the netherlands, it was the standard issue over there for fries. I always got an od look when i ate them with ketchup.

around here, Burger King has the “Rodeo Burger”, somthing they started when the movie “Small Soldiers” come out and kept. It’s basicly a rip off of McD’s ‘special’ sauce slapped on a whopper with some (Very) mild pepper.

Ever seen Pulp Fiction? I’ve lived in Seattle, Miami, Boston, and NC-- I’ve always seen the same menu, guess you have to go overseas

Here in Korea McD’s sells “Bulggogi-burgers”… I haven’t tried one, because they look and sound disgusting! Co-incidentally, Pizza Hut here also has “Bulggogi Pizzas” which I also haven’t tried.

“Bulggogi” literally means “fire-meat”, and is actually a most delicious traditional Korean food (beef or pork marinated in a sweetish suce and then cooked), but it just doesn’t sound all that good to me… if anyone has a burning curiosity about the taste, I’ll go out and try 'em for you!

*Sniff! That’s how much I love you guys! *

Here in Japan there are Teriyaki burgers, along with a sandwich called a Chicken Tatsuta, which is a lightly fried chicken cutlet with shredded cabbage and a sauce that taste mildly like horse radish. It’s quite good.

The McDs here also have a “special” burger that changes every few weeks. Some examples are Big Macs with Egg, Curry Burgers (not bad), Fried Macaroni & Cheese Burgers (tried it once. Never again), and my favorite, a Sausage Burger with melted cheese and horse radish sauce. Right now, they’re serving Kalbi (Korean-style grilled beef strips with kimchee sauce) Burgers. Yum.

A former Crew Chief and 2nd Assistant Manager writes:

I worked for the Clown from 1977-82. [Grandpa Simpson voice] When I started, there was no breakfast, and we didn’t open till 10:00 am. Also, the meat wasn’t frozen, and there were no timers; everything was prepared using visual cooking characteristics. I remember the old-style Multimixer shake machines, too. Met Ray Kroc once, who said “Dave, always remember, we’re not a hamburger store, we’re a fry store!”[/Grandpa Simpson]

This area of Canada was one of the top markets in the world for Ronnie’s, so we test marketed a lot of “innovations,” like the breakfast menu (circa 1978), salads (not the ‘shaker’ type); soups (a royal pain in the ass, with slow service times). We did the McRib about '81 or so, and it flopped. Pizzas started here about 5 years ago, and weren’t too bad. Haven’t seen the McPoutine, but the newly-arrived Burger King serves a version of poutine.

On a trip to the Netherlands in 1978, I saw a regional item there called “McKrockett” (or something like that); it was a deep-fried vegetable patty on a toasted bun, and was awful.

I’ve never seen a McD’s in Canada offer iced tea. The breakfast bagels aren’t bad (although they’re not real bagels, and best of all, you can get a large (22 oz.) orange juice for about $1.95 Canadian, which beats the usual 2-oz glass for $4.00 that most places serve.

Thanks eggo! Well, I assume the French Canadians would put mayo on fries and the Californians would dip theirs in guacamole!

FWIW, the music for the McRib commercial is performed by Ray Benson and Asleep at the Wheel. Request it if you ever get to see them. They appreciate it.

They also do the ersatz-conjunto taquito commercial.

BTW, fry sauce = ketchup + mayo. For real.

I went around east Asia a couple of years ago. All the McDs had fried chicken. The one in Singapore had the teriyaki burger someone mentioned. None of them had BBQ for the McNuggets, either. I got mighty sick of sweet ‘n’ sour. I seem to remember the Beijing McDs had some noodle and/or rice dish. Sorry for the bad memory.

I worked At a McD’s for 3 weeks back in 1989 and the only decent thing about it was that we were test-marketing the McSteak sandwich. That ws a good damn sandwich. It was served on the McRib roll with fried onions and A-1.

Also, when I was in the Navy and living in VA, the were test-marketing delivery from McD’s. That rocked! There is nothing like ordering up some Quarter-pounders and Mcnuggets on a hungover sunday morning.

The culinary capitals of the world, and you guys are off to Mickey Dees. Sheesh!

Off to IMHO.
