Me in a philosophical/stupid mood.

Why is it that some cosmic piece of advice such as, “Life’s not fair” is often followed by “welcome to the real world.”

I guess the true question is about how you define reality (and I’m not talkin’ Matrix). When I was 3 my stuffed animals could talk. That, for me, was a real world.

I guess life is a horrible ladder–if you’re one step ahead of someone else, as soon as they walk up it, you have to tell them, “welcome to the real world.” And then of course you find out that what goes up must come down and in the end, you die.

Welcome to the real world.

Actually…

When you find yourself in the “real world” it is when you realize that you have to take care of yourself because no one esle is going to do it for you anymore…

this happens to some people earlier than others…

Actually,

When you find yourself in the “real world” is when you realize that everything you do doesn’t matter because we are all going to die and no one is going to remember you or any of your accomplishments.

It’s a sad topic, I know.

So when you go into a retirement home, you’re no longer in the real world since people are now responsible for you?

Blech…I feel like all my thoughts should be heralded with “welcome to the real world.” Oh well, I suppose I’ll manage to eat breakfast and get on with my life somehow (though I don’t know what breakfast has to do with it).

One the most common perceptions of growing up happens when you visit a place that you hadn’t been since you were a child. Upon this visit is hit’s you. WOW! I thought this room was bigger, or that table looks small. because when you were a child everything was big to you.
Perception is a cruel mistress.

Welcome to the world of grown-ups.
