I saw a Ford Explorer with the requisite bunch of “W The President” and “Bush/Cheney 2004” stickers on it, but there was one I hadn’t seen before. It was a big sticker that went most of the way over the top of the back window that said “10-03-2002”*. The zeroes had slashes through them like you used to see in computer programming or engineering. This was a new one on me, and since I’m a Doper, I like to be in the know. What did it mean?
*note: it might have been “10-02-2002”, but I’m pretty sure it was “03”
I’m not aware of anything earth-shaking that happened on that date, and Google didn’t turn up anything of major significance. I’m wondering if maybe it’s the driver’s wedding date or some such event.
Wikipedia has no entry for that date, and my Google searches came up dry as well. It could be something as mundane (not to him, of course) as the driver’s wedding day, but it looked mass-produced and all of his other stickers were of a political nature.
Not exactly. The OP said that (s)he was “pretty sure” that it was one of those. I’d just like to know which (s)he thought (s)he was “pretty sure” it was.
Could have been a foreign car ya know. . . :: d&r ::
Based on the date and ‘font’ of the OP’s sticker, I did a Google for “computer october 3 2002” and all I could find of any prominence was Web Services Edge 2002. The other hits were mostly articles for that week. And I get the same results if I change the date to “2003” as well
FWIW, Oct 3, 2002 was a Wednesday, while Oct 3, '03 was a Friday.
So, there. I’m not much help either. Wasn’t Oct 3 the date of “Black Thursday” or “Black Friday” (Stock Market) some years back?
Tripler
I’m just fishing for clues at this point. . .
The only event I’ve been able to find for October 3, 2002 was Hurricane Lilli’s landfall in Louisiana.. It caused $430 million in damage and resulted in two indirect deaths–not good, but not particularly horrible as hurricanes go, either.
It’s thin, but 10/02/2002 was the date that the joint resolution authorizing military action in Iraq was introduced in Congress. One would think that the the date of the vote was more significant, but who knows?
