In my town of residence and the environs, there are several different “Two Notch” roads. A cursory Google search also turns up several “Three Notch” roads in various places. Is there any special connotation of “notch” with regard to roads? I’ve seen that “notch” can be a synonym for (mountain) pass, but in this area anyway, that would not appear to be relevant.
Any ideas???
