Medical Dopers- why am I bleeding when it's not time for my period?(TMI)

I am going to make an appointment with my doctor, and I’m due for my pelvic exam anyway, so no one shout “Off to the doctor with you, young lady!”, okay? For the last few months I’ve spotted a bit of blood around ovulation, without pain, and thought it was odd, but didn’t worry too much. This month I bled lightly for several days straight, still without pain.

I don’t think I’ve heard about this before, and I have no idea what’s causing it, or if this is in any way normal, or whatever. Due to lots of sickness, weird work scheduling, and general tiredness I can tell you that I am not pregnant, so this is not a sign of implantation.

So what else could it be? And how worried should I be?

To the best of my knowledge, not normal. I’m speaking up because this is a problem I’m familiar with, but not in younger women.

How old are you? Old enough to be perimenopausal (i.e., within a few years of it - can happen as early as late 30’s, but usually not until mid to late 40s)?

Midcycle spotting around ovulation is very common and frequently due to the normal hormone fluctuation at that time.

Your doc can confirm if this is likely your case.
