I’ve had worse than average circulation most of my life. Never anything terrible, until recently. I injured my foot, and then did… Some other stupid things, and in the past week or two, my right calf has swolen up and become amazingly sensitive (read: painful) to the touch. When I wear anything other than shorts it gets worse, because the swolen portion of the leg gets constricted.
I’m likely going to see a doctor about this, but I’m wondering if anyone out there has had any experience with this, or can give an educated guess as to what can / should be done to get this back under control? Thanks in advance.
Definately go to the doctor! Soon. My dad had this and was diagnosed withDeep Vein Thrombosis.
He is in his 70s with a long history of leg injuries, so this probably won’t apply to you. But his doctor said that anytime the extremeties swell unequally you need to see that doctor.
Don’t “likely” see a doctor, see one ASAP. As DeVena said, it could be venous thrombosis, which is a large blood clot in the vein. If left untreated, a piece of it could break off and cause a pulmonary embolism in the lung, or it could travel to the brain or heart. Any of these can be fatal, but are preventable if you seek medical care quickly.
