Medieval: Total War 2 Cooperative Campaign...The Revenge

That’s the assumption. I haven’t had troops this late for the Moops, so I don’t know exactly what works. I do know that 1000 troops, no matter what kind they are, will stomp out 50 heavy cavalry (assuming I catch the fuckers).

So, the Sultan is dead. I’ve retaken Genoa, Venice, and Milan, but Cairo and Alexandria revolted in the same turn.

We’ve got roughly 13 territories left, and France looks like the next hurdle. If we start making successful forays into Europe (I was building lots of troops in Spain), we can make a big cut into the remaining number. Also, Gaza is strong and has thwarted a Mongol attack. That’ll more than likely be the eastern base of operations. You’ve also got one of the Mediterranean island under seige. Your beefy navy is headed back to Sicily to (presumably) recharge.

Oh yeah, Jerusalem is held by our allies, the Polish. I assume you may want to mess with that last, because Magdeburg is surrounded by friendlies (how in the hell did that happen?)

Ludovic, you get to clean house with a six-pack of generals in Spain for you to play with.

Yayayay! Just in time to download for my upcoming vacation, where I’ll be stuck at a beach house I don’t want to be at for 4 days, without internet access!

Well, it lasted shorter than I thought, but then again the Sultan was 60 years old.

We lost Egypt to rioting peasants, since both cities were below 0% when the new sultan took over. And that’s even with the Sultan laying claim to the ancient Empire by relocating his capital to Rome.

But we resisted another attack by the Mongols on the Sinai, but they just keep sending full armies to besiege it. We almost cleared our territories of rebels, and vanquished a couple Western Mediterranean fleets and a half-stack of invading Byzantines made up entirely of artillery (!) And our artillery and gunnery units are beginning to build up as we start to invade France and Languedoc.

Damn. He was 60?

Yeah, I couldn’t help but let out a giggle when Cairo and Alexandria both rebelled in the same turn…the turn I was to hand it over.

Dammit, what is with the Holy Roman Empire and forwarding saves? I’ll send it again. If you don’t have it tonight, email me or PM me here, and we’ll try something else.

Hang on a minute, your gmail spam folder? The email addy in your profile is a Yahoo account.

Well, I think I see the problem right here.

All right, I’m patching up now and I’ll get to it soon. Hopefully I won’t be in over my head here.

I’ve kind of been neglecting these threads. Thanks for taking charge.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just make sure you whoop some Christian ass with the Moops when you get 'em.

Welcome back, dear sir.

Yeah, the yahoo account automatically forwards to the gmail account, where the spam filter is better. I’ll send you a pm and maybe change the email in my profile.

Well, I think I’ll have to pass after all. I loaded up the game and I just can’t get myself into it right now, especially since my character is 25 years old and my turn would be really long.
Sorry, but I think I’ll take a break from this game for a while. Maybe sometime after the expansion comes out I’ll come back but right now I don’t want to get involved in the deep strategy of Total War.
I’m sending the file to Alessan.

Got it.

Insh’allah, I’ll be installing it this evening.

Sweet shit. You should be able to end it during your reign, I do believe.

Bump.

Kyrre, it’s going to be a while until I’m anywhere near my own computer. Since mine was the first turn, and since I hosed us pretty bad already, you might just want to start over. I think I’ll bow out of further games generated by this thread, too. It’s fun, but keeping track of who has which save file and wether or not it showed up in someone’s inbox is getting to be too much of a drag. Thanks for the game, though, everyone!

No problemmo, Miller.

Feel better soon!

My only question is this: Where did all those elephants come from?

Not that it matters much, anymore, because most of them are gone. Three units were lost at sea, and three more went bandit along with my northern Italian army - they’re currently playing the part of pachydermal trolls on the easternmost bridge on the Po, and I’m letting them be. Right now, I can’t really afford to waste troops clearing out roads.

My young Sultan has inherited an empire in shambles. Cities woefully un-improved, far too many castles, generals defecting, hordes of useless troops, no real field armies to speak of, and only 30-odd turns to the end of the game. I hate to say it, folks, but I doubt we’re going to win this one.

Still, some progress has been made. The year is 1484. I’ve raised four good armies in Spain and Italy and taken Cairo, Alexandria, Venice, Genoa, Marsailles, Toulouse and Bordeaux. I’ve fought off two Mongol sieges of Gaza and am about to trounce another invasion force. After losing all of their holdings west of the Balkans, the Milanese have sued for peace, clearing up my eastern and Alpine flanks and allowing me to focus on France. My cities are more or less tranquil, and I’ve been shifting and recruiting enough militia troops to make sure they stay that way.

There’s still enough to worry about. Taking those southern French citadels cost me more troops than I can afford to lose, and refreshing them hasn’t been easy; I have to focus on conquering cities as much as possible. The Mongols, despite repeatedly smashing their forces on the walls of Gaza are still the world premiere military power, and seeing as I’m their only enemy, right now they’re a hornet’s nest I don’t want to poke too hard. The Byzantines have frormed an unlikely empire stretching from the North Sea to the Aegean, gnawing away at my friends the Danes, sending expeditionary forces to Egypt (which I eliminated - but they’ll be back) and laying seige to Magdeburg. That’s the main reason I’m focusing on France rathr than points east - I don’t have time to fight a *strong * enemy.

That’s it for now. My blitzkreig through France must continue. I only hope my empire will hold together log enough for me to finish.

(Incidentally, I wasn’t initially all that impressed with the Moops’ troops - I’ve never played them before - but I’m starting to warm to them. I especially like the camel gunners, who have really shown their worth in France and the Sinai. I need more of those guys).

How many more cities do you have to take over? Do you have Jerusalem yet?

Yeah, the Moops’ troops aren’t so bad. You’ve just got to build the right ones. With that being said, they have…unnecessary flexibility, I think. What is that, like 4 different kinds of spear units (with no pikemen)?

I have the feeling that the expansion is going to make this game that much better and, again, the Total Realism mod is going to make this game silly good.

I actually quite like the Moops’ troops. The only major flaw I’ve found is that they have no really good foot archers. The Christian Guards, both mounted and dismounted, are great. Camel gunners are ridiculously strong, and I like the light cavalry with javelins; they can deal good damage to heavy infantry and run down enemies after a victory really well. My last campaign was as the English and I’m noticing a huge improvement in the “enemies captured” column.
