Meet the Moose (dog pictures) [ETA: sad ending]

OMG I am shocked to hear this… I have NEVER known an aggressive Gordon and I have literally known hundreds thru the years. I am so, so sorry to hear this. And his previous owned needs to be tarred and feathered.

Another one for your brother is a hottie.

But in all seriousness, I’m sorry for what happened to Moose. What a terrible thing :(. I usually don’t like big dogs but after seeing that picture it melted my heart; it’s a shame that he had to be put down due to some asshole’s abuse.

Wait - I never saw that somebody abused this dog. I see that somebody didn’t work with a dog who was assertive and a resource guarder - but please do not equate that with abuse. It is more of a wrong dog/handler matchup.

Sorry about Moose.

I’m sorry to hear about Moose.

But I’m also very surprised that your parents didn’t, I dunno, get the vet to check him out first? My dog suddenly became aggressive a couple of years ago for seemingly no reason. We took her to the vet and found that she had a significant stomach virus and was ‘protecting’ herself. Gave her medicine and she’s her normal self.

When an animal is hurting, it’ll become aggressive.

The dog was checked out before we got him, so I am pretty sure there were not health issues. I hope the vet would have raised that issue but I don’t think it was a possibility.

Not to be glib in turning to the positive, but the new puppy should arrive Monday afternoon.

When you say “a couple of weeks”, how old do you mean the new puppy is? Not to be annoying or mean or anything, but hopefully the new dog is old enough to be weaned from its mother and littermates. It would be sad if your parents went from one problem dog to another.

He’s eight weeks old. I admit that’s not actually a couple, but nobody told me a real number until today.

Is it a Gordon puppy, Marley? Nothin’ cuter than a Gordon baby…

Snuggled with Kharma:

Yes, he’s a Gordon. He looks very cute and I’ll post pics in a new pet thread sooner or later.
