Meeting in Houston?

Once again, I’ll be visiting Houston, Texas in February. And once again, I’m starting a thread to suggest a meeting.

I’ll open with Saturday, February 11 and see if that works for people. But I’m flexible if another day’s better.

Can’t do the 4th or the 25th. 11th and 18th are good so far.

Somebody poke Ringo and wake him up.

Pencil me in. I’m down the road a piece from Ho-town, but it’s a do-able buggy ride.

Check with JohnT, he’s also from around these here parts.

Haven’t been to one in a while. Might try. Have to check dates.

I sent out a bunch of PMs and an email to Ringo (who doesn’t have a PM contact).

My alarm went off. I’ll watch for what develops.

So far the 11th looks good for me as well, so long as its not too early in the morning.

Little Nemo, thanks for the ping.

You might need to resend those PMs, Nemo. The one I got had a truncated link that went nowhere, but I was able to find the thread via search.

Early February is always stacked up for me, with the Superbowl, gf’s birthday, Valentine’s Day, etc. forcing a slate of prior commitments on the first two weekends, but I’ll stay tuned and hope to be able to attend. Sorry I missed last year’s gathering.

I’m booked in February. I’ve started volunteering with The Wildlife Center of Texas on the weekends.

Y’all have a good time!

Our usual watering hole at Fuddrucker’s, or do we want to try someplace different this time? If y’all like Chinese, there is a new Kublai Khan restaurant that just opened up in Carillon Center that is really good.

Chinese is good for me. But I prefer a buffet rather than a single order place.

I would prefer not to go to Fuddrucker’s. I would second a “Chinese buffet”, except that those usually don’t have a beer & wine license. Don’t know if that’s a deal-breaker for y’all.

Anyway, there is a regional casual-dining chain called “Cheddar’s” that has, surprisingly, pretty good food at a good price and a full bar. There is one in Houston: Cheddar’s–Houston

Kublai Khan is one of those places where you go through the line, load your bowl up with all kinds of ingredients and then they stir-fry it for you. For an extra $3, they make it a bottomless bowl where you can go through the line as many times as you want.

Cheddar’s is good, too.

I’m in Dallas - a bit too far - but y’all have fun without me. (Dammit . . . I want Chinese food now. :frowning: )

Thanks for the invite Little Nemo, but I’m already making a trip to Atlanta on the 8th to hear my daughter’s band play.

By the way, Houstonians, the Black Belles will be playing at Warehouse Live in Houston on March 18th.

I’m still on the road (went through Mississippi and Lousiana today). I’ll be arriving in Houston tomorrow and will be able to post more regularly.

I hope you at least waved in my general direction as you went through.

Wish I could join you! I live in Houston half the year, but the other half the year I live on a ship in the gulf of Mexico… which is where I am now and will be for 3 more weeks. :’(

Well, you could always invite us over to your place.

Anyway, it’s looking like Saturday the 11th is generally acceptable. Can we aim for around 4:00 pm?

Let’s get a vote: Cheddars or Kublai Khan?

Nitpick: that’d make it Mongolian.
