Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus don't make me love you!

How did the shark swim backwards for a few feet in that one scene? That’s highly implausible.

It is the kind of movie I can not resist. I have a SciFi sweetspot and I watch every critter wants to kill us all movie. The effects do look cheesy though.

Eight giant arms to hold you and huge rows of replacable teeth to bite you…what’s not to like?

Why “octopus”? Giant squid is the monster tradition, I thought?

Yeah, but we have giant squids for real. And sure, they wrestle sperm whales and all, but in order to take on a shark that can bite through the Golden Gate Bridge, you need to go even bigger. But since the Giant Squid is already giant, where do you go from there? Gianter Squid? Lacks a sense of real menace. Mega Squid? Nah, the shark is already mega. Gi-huge-ic squid? That’s just silly.

So how about changing it to a giant octopus? Yeah. You get all the sucky, squeezy goodness of the squid, but you can make it even bigger! And we can call it “Giant” and make it as big as we want! Yeah, that’s the ticket!

Hopefully with the alternate Japanese ending.

I am about halfway through watching it right now; this surpasses Shark Attack 3: Megalodon on levels that were previously undreamed of.

According to Amazon it is being released on DVD on 5/19/09.
Get your pre order in now and avoid the rush.

That’s all I needed to know!

I just added it to my Netflix queue.

When’s the Criterion edition being released?

I just watched it. Strangely enough, I found the acting to be maybe a half-step above what you would expect in a movie like this. The characters didn’t feel like real people, but you could understand their motivations. I thought it was funny that the real villain appears to be white men–well, all white men except Scottish white men. I wish John Barrowman had been it–he could have told Deborah Gibson that he wanted to take her home and eat her pussy. That was, I think, the final bit of class that MSvGO lacked.

I already love it. I hope it’s as full of cheesy badness as I want it to be.

Wish, command, etc. I just saw an ad that this, uh, film, will be on tomorrow night, 8/29, on SyFy.

I am so going to be there, popcorn and giant soda.

Loved it.

Giant shark takes out an airliner - pure poetry.

Is it sad that after the shark bit the airplane the first thing that came to my mind was, “That is not how the plane would crash.”

The women are hot, though.

Yes, they can have giant octopus knocking out fighter planes with tentacles, but we can’t have on with Great Cthulhu in all its (his? her? their?) glory.

skulks away mumbling gibberish

I guess it was “giant sea-creature Saturday” yesterday. They aired Deep Blue Sea a couple of hours before MS v GO…I love that scene where Samuel L. Jackson gets chomped in the middle of his motivational speech!

By the most flexible shark in the universe…

For those that missed MS vs GO, happily it is being shown again next Sunday at 9 pm edt, on SYSFY.

I didn’t see the update to this thread so I missed it the other night, but I assure you that the DVR is set for next Sunday.
