Nope. I just pee, then wipe the one or two droplets that might have gone astray.
Putting both the seat and the lid down should be in every marriage contract.
81% of us. That, unfortunately, doesn’t seem to tally with my experience in men’s rooms.
Possibilities:
Men who answer SDMB polls are much more likely to lift the seat.
19% of men make almost 100% of the mess in the mens rooms
There’s a bunch of liars on this poll.
I’m going to go with this one.
Always, in all situations. I mean, what the fuck? Even if I lived alone, I’d lift it, because I don’t want to sit in even my OWN piss when I have to drop a deuce.

This.
I’m afraid (illogically, I’m sure) that one of the cats will fall in and not be able to get out, so I close both lids as well. Plus, it’s cute to see Butch sitting on the closed lid, like he’s imitating me.

On reflection, I did leave the seat down once a couple of weeks ago in a public restroom. I was quite justified in this, however: the bugger wouldn’t stay UP!
I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s number two. (Heh heh. “Number two.”) It doesn’t take very many men to make a mess.
Yep, unless I am unwilling to get my shoe dirty from whatever is on the seat I’ll lift it. On the other hand I rarely remember to drop the seat until I walk by later and wonder why the lid isn’t down.
I always put the seat down. The ceramic is cold and very uncomfortable.
Lid down is my own SOP as well. Seems the most logical – everyone’s equally inconvenienced and, as you point out, fewer unfortunate accidents.
