Right. Take a look at any woman with and without makeup, and you’ll notice a difference, even if the makeup is subtle and natural. Now, you might prefer the no-makeup look, but that’s not the point - the point is that you do make a distinction.

You don’t notice that you notice. But, put a woman with make-up, hair did/ nails did, everything did and a set of stilettos next to a woman with flip flops, nails bitten to the quick and a baggy sweat shirt, and you are gonna go for the done up one.
How do you know which one I’m going to go for? It depends on her face 1000%. Sarah Jessica Parker with the best make-up, nails, clothes and shoes that money can buy vs. Kirsten Dunst wearing the dowdiest outfit you can imagine, and I am going to go for the latter.
It’s hilarious to me that three or four women have come into this thread and started saying: YOU NOTICE! YOU NOTICE!
Didn’t I specifically ask the opinion of men?

How do you know which one I’m going to go for?..
Right. I was just speaking in general. Of course, I concede I have no idea who you would go for.
ETA: I honestly didn’t notice that the poll was for men. I just jumped in because it was on the same topic that we were talking about in the other thread.

Sez who?
Says that contingent of certified defenders of natural beauty who insist they like their women to look like they just got through gardening.

Way to miss the point. Take Kirsten Dunst with no make up and run down clothing, then apply some natural, nicely-applied make up, and a nicer outfit and compare. You will notice.

I imagine very few guys care exactly what shoes a woman is wearing. But they do notice if she has nice legs. If they took a tally, I bet they’d notice that every woman with “nice legs,” a “nice butt” or a “sexy walk” is wearing heels. I bet they hardly ever notice the legs of women in flats. They may not even make the connection between “sexy bottom half” and “wearing heels,” much less wearing any specific pair of heels. But it is there.
Lowell. I look at and admire plenty of legs at the beach. No high heels to be found there. I see lots of phenomenal legs and asses at the gym every day…the shoes don’t make a tinker’s damn worth of difference. Most of the attractive college women I see walking around downtown in the summer are wearing flip flops and short shorts and you bet your ass I notice what they’ve got.
You are really losing me with your logic.
Unsurprisingly, (since I believe we are some of the posters from the other thread) I agree with even sven.
Here is a link to the mentioned thread; the discussion in question begins around post 105.
I certainly notice them, although probably not in the way you were thinking of.

But that’s the problem: if you want to know how effective a marketing campaign is, who do you ask? The consumers, or the marketers? If you ask the consumers, you’ll get a lot of people saying they’ve never seen the ad, or they’ve seen it and find it annoying, or they’ve seen it and like it, but don’t feel it really influences their purchasing decisions. But if you ask the marketers actually crunching the numbers, they’ll tell you what people’s actual behavior is, regardless of what they may say. Everyone says they hate direct mail… but it works.
So all we’re saying is, you may well get a bunch of guys *saying *they don’t notice these things, but we’ve seen an actual change in behavior based on these things, often in the same guys who say they don’t notice.
I notice makeup. I might notice shoes if it’s stiletto heels, fuck-me boots, bare feet, or swim fins, otherwise nah. Women wear shoes for other women.
Nail polish? Couldn’t give less of a shit. Extremely long nails (or extensions) scream “trashy” to me, though.
I notice makeup. I didn’t used to because every girl was wearing some but once I moved to Colorado where many women don’t I can now tell the difference.
The only time I’ve ever looked at a girl’s hand were when she’s waving them around. I couldn’t tell you the difference between clipped or bitten nails. I don’t like the big scary ones but aside from that I couldn’t tell you anything about them after spending hours with a woman and I don’t think it adds to the put together appearance at all.
I notice heels because I like taller women but I couldn’t tell you what shoes any woman was wearing after talking to her and I think a woman looks as well put together in ballet flats as in heels I just prefer the tall of the two.
I think a lot of it is in woman’s minds. The dress up and other women notice all of the little bullshit and compliment them on it so they feel better about themselves. That feeling of confidence makes them have better posture or respond to light flirting in a more assertive way so they get better results. I’ve noticed that I am much more successful after a good week of working out. Do I have more muscle? Of course not but I feel better about myself and that confidence does me wonders.
Again, how many of you notice chairs? How many make conscious judgement about lighting? How many people can say off the top of their head how many windows a given restaurant or whatever has? How many of you know what color the walls are at your favorite bar?
But all of you can tell the difference between a comfortable and inviting room and an uncomfortable one. Small details add up.

That sounds like good logic to me.

Why did you ask the question if only the answers you agree with will be deemed logical to you? Just start an MPSIMS thread that says “I don’t notice that shit, and I don’t care what you say.”
I do notice shoes. I like the current “pirate boot” style, and also good looking high heels that make a ladies walk sexier.
I roll my eyes at flip-flops.
Nails? Only if extreme- chipped or trashy. boo. Well, until we get to hand-holding stage in which case, yes, I will notice a nice manicure.
Makeup? Well, trashy is out. But I do like good lipstick, sexy shiney or a good red.

Also, he ignored the part where Oredigger admits that he notices make up and heels. Ha.
Uh…I’m wondering what other men think. I already know what I think. But what I was saying was logical about that post you’re referring to is the idea that caring about the accessories does benefit the woman even if the men don’t care about it, because it makes her feel better about herself.

That’s probably how I really notice these things on most women - as part of a whole. Also I do notice (very much) how they walk, which probably has got a lot to do with their choice of shoes, but I don’t pay attention to their actual shoes.
With nail polish, hairstyles, make up, shoes etc. what I do consciously notice are the outliers.
Of course men care about this crap. They may not be conscious of noticing it, but they do.
Look at the models in any Maxim, Playboy, or similar mag. What is on their feet? What is on their face? Look at their nails. Look at their skin. How is their hair styled?
If these things were irrelevant to most men’s idea of attractive, these models would look like I do first thing on a Saturday morning.
Since caffeine and a few others have already said what I would have, I’m not interested in this thread, but bloody hell I canNOT find the thread mentioned in the OP that started all this. Wouldn’t mind glancing at that - lil’ help here, please?
