Men with short hair and long, full beards

I haven’t had any complaints.

But she won’t kiss me after until I wash it.

Blame this guy.

On the contrary – scientists have already determined that we’ve reached “peak beard” for this fashion cycle.

Been tracking this for a few years. Oy, fashion.

I can’t imagine being a pro basketball player and sporting that beard, or the wide receiver for the Patriots who has a chin strap on it. Yechhh.

Yeah, it’s throwback look that goes with the whole hipster/Mumford ethos. They kinda look like they belong on a box of cough drops. Too calculated and fussy.

The parting on the left is now the parting on the right, and the beards have all grown longer overnight.

Now get off my clean-shaven lawn.

This is a bit of a tangent - but kind of related. I have noticed in the last maybe year or so that the clean shaven look seems to have lost its luster. My gut feeling is that people in some way associating it more with Mitt Romney types than anything else; which to me means it is losing its status as the de facto appropriate professional look. I am seeing much more facial hair than ever on professional types.

Well, um, that option isn’t exactly available to everyone.

I’m not sure if I can grow a beard and I’d never try. It is refreshing to see their reemergence. I saw a guy with a beard and he reminded me of Darius from the movie Alexander. Full and well groomed and not a single grey.

It’s a hipster thing. You can’t walk in certain neighborhoods in Brooklyn, where I live, without observing that about every other man you see has a beard that makes him look like an Old Testament prophet.

Maybe just confirmation bias, but I’m suddenly seeing this look everywhere. I guess I need to get cracking on the ol’ beard growing thing!! On second thought, maybe I’ll wait until winter. On third thought, maybe I’ll wait until “never”.

I have been informed that rug burn from a 5:00 shadow is much, much worse.

Note to self: No more plaid.

My wife reports by far the worst is the 2-4 day stubble. After that it softens a bunch.

Back when I wasn’t subject to a dress code I had a pretty good ZZ-Top imitation going on. When I finally shaved it off my wife said she was disappointed. She liked me better with the beard since it hid so much more of my face. Thanks Dear!

Beards are awesome. Obviously they need to be nicely maintained, but I think a LOT of guys look better with facial hair. And I’ve heard a lot of guys talk about how little variety there is in men’s fashion/ style compared to women’s, so I think beards are a great way to change up your personal style.

Not necessarily rebelling, but reacting to, yes. There is only so much variation in human bodies, so there’s only so far fashion can change. What tends to happen is that some element gets exaggerated to its maximum - like long hair on men giving way to shorter cuts, then to buzz cuts, then to shaved heads - and the reaction moves in the other direction - back to long hair, albeit on the face rather than the head. 'Twas ever thus.

Hipster thing. As an Australian comedian said, groovy coffee shops these days look like they are being run by the Kelly gang.

Sting

it’s a dumb hipster trend. like those web ads for T-shirt companies that invariably have a picture of a pleasant-looking woman and some ridiculous-looking dipshit with a scraggly beard.

 Mr. Sumner, no!

If he and his Mrs. like it, far be it for me to judge. But I don’t know in what world that looks better than this

Oh, baby…
