My period started last night. Usually the crampiness means 24 hours to B-Day, but no, I went upstairs to bed and it had started. So, fine, put in a tampon, proceed with the going-to-bed plan, which involves meditating in a hot bath for a while.
I spend about five days out of every 28 bleeding. Perimenopause for me means a shorter cycle, not a longer one – I’m now on a 24-25 day cycle. So, 5/28 of my adult life – that’s about a sixth. Roughly. I’ve been doing this for 35 years – yikes, 36 come August. So a sixth of 36 years – I have spent six years of my life dealing with my own blood.
Enough already. I really, honest to god, think I’ve gotten everything out of this experience that I’m going to. Menopause – feel free to kick in any time now. Thanks.
I had an IUD implanted a few months ago. Downside: hurt like hell. Benefits: no pills to worry about and NO PERIOD FOR THE NEXT FIVE YEARS!! Woo Hoo! talking to menstrual cycle See ya later, sucker! cackles maniacally
The depo shot did that for me (stopped my periods) but I hear alot of women complain about side effects. I used it for 7 years and loved it though.
I stopped depo when I met my fiance (he is neutered) and now Im back to that horrible bloody ball & chain once a month. The older I get the worse they feel. When I was young I dont remember them being a big deal. Now its migraine headaches, cramps and fatigue for seven days a month. I am so jealous of my sister and her hysterectomy. She hasnt had a period since she was 28 years old. God I hate her.
Yep, I did the IUD thing recently (two months ago) and haven’t seen mine either. But mine have always been light, like 3 or 4 days. On BCP, really really light, like 1 - 2 days. Now, pretty nonexistant. I’m pretty happy with how I work.
