TMI!!But, the longest period ever?!

I went to see my GP today and we talked about how I have had my period, solidly, and heavily, every day since June 26th. Seriously, thats 6months now!!

So I was just wondering what the longest period you SD ladies have ever had is?

I’ve never had one really long like that but, seriously, what did the GP say?

Damn! I’m not a lady but that seems a tad on the long side. Your GP didn’t see anything abnormal about that? Maybe you should see a GYN.

Yeah shes quite worried. I’m really anaemic now too. She checked my cervix which is fine and she doesn’t know what else to do.

I had a depo injection in March and I think its a side effect from that. My weight is at a low point at the moment and technically they should have stopped because of that so something funny is definitely going on.

Jesus. Six months? Did you see any medical professional earlier?

Nearly two years, when I first went on Depo-Provera (the shot). “Occasional break through bleeding,” my ass! Of course, I was dating someone (my husband-to-be, actually) at the time, so we had sex anyway. Once the bathroom looked like something out of a slasher film when we were done. Let’s just say it was not a light flow.

The doctors were completely and utterly unconcerned.

Jesus! I thought my regular 12 days long periods were excessive!

Have they sent you for any testing? Get to an OB/GYN!

Wow, you really do have Hippos in your Garden.

O god, please lets hope mine doesn’t go on for that long. Did you have one injection or several? Yep definitely not just a light flow here too.

I haven’t been sent for any testing or anything. Ill see her again at the beginning of jan.

She told me not to leave the country though lol.

My friend had a similar length, about 5 months. Nothing stopped it until they tried the NuvaRing. Hormones are messed up, sometimes it’s about finding the perfect combination for your body.

But I hope you can get some iron back and feel better, that has to be hell.

WHUMP!-woobsquishwoobsquishwoobsquish

That is the sound of my uterus falling out and rolling away to hide under my desk because this post scared it so bad.:eek::eek:

Mine has just joined yours.

Several, on the regular schedule, because they kept telling me it would get better soon and I just had to give my body “time to adjust” to the shot. ETA: The bleeding started a few days after the first shot. This was when I was younger and stupider and thought doctors were more or less infallible. Eventually my period did go away entirely, and I spent another 2 years on Depo with only depression and weight gain as side effects. (Full disclosure: I am prone to depression anyhow, so it may have been coincidental or it may have been a trigger chemical, I can’t tell which.) Then I discovered FAM and said goodbye to hormonal birth control forever.

It all depends on genetics, I firmly believe. Everyone in my family has had weird periods and uterine problems. One woman, my aunt, always had her period for like three weeks at a time. Three women have had complete hysterectomies. There’s histories of all kinds of things.

And then there’s my (bio) mom, who has her period every month like clockwork, and me, who takes after her. I’ve always said that’s one thing she did for me. If I pay that close attention, I could time it to the hour - that’s how regular I am.

I feel a great deal of sorrow for women who’s reproductive systems are all screwy and change all the time. If I could share with all women the gift of mine - four days every month, not a moment longer, always on time - I gladly would.

w00t, uterus pr0n !

I’m sorry, I won’t do it again, I swear.

It took you six months to get that checked out?

No, I see my GP once a month.

If that is really all that she has done about this, you might want to look into getting referred to an ob/gyn. There are several kinds of medications that can be used to regulate the abnormal bleeding that Depo can cause (for some women a short course of low dose birth control pills, while still on the Depo, will get it to stop).

Women are much, much stronger creatures than men. Were I to even bleed gently from a gential orifice for more than maybe an hour I’d be stalking the streets with a loaded handgun begging someone to end my misery.

Doesn’t it seem like uteri always land squishy side down?

Now I’m in the mood for toast!
