Is the implication that **all **his winning games were taped in February? Then he won’t win more than 40 games. Since the show airs only 5 times per week, do they only tape around 5 months per year?
Mr. Winnie and I have noticed that sports questions are not his strong suit at all. He’s gotten lucky on a few, but for the most part that’s the only category where he falls flat.
Eventually KenBrain is going to start buzzing in with the questions before Alex finishes the first word of the answer.
Alex: “This musical…”
KenBrain: “What is ‘Fiddler on the Roof?’”
A: “History…”
KB: “When is 1292?”
A: “Ab…”
KB: “Who is Saladin?”
A: “Quant…”
KB: “What is The Grand Unified Theory?”
A: “You know what Ken, screw this. You take over and host. I have just asked every question possible. Our encyclopedias have all been worn out.”
KB: Well, Alex, I know every BANG
A: “Oh my god, Ken’s head just exploded, and, and, Dear lord, a new one is growing in it place!”
KB: “I apologize. That happens occasionally. The mess will evaporate soon.”
IMHO, The Men in Black are probably looking for this man so they can send him back to his home planet before he consumes and destroys all knowledge on Earth.
Even though technically he can’t ring in before Alex finishes the question, that was still damn funny, Zamboni!
Did anyone notice Ken make a little boo-boo the other day? (maybe Tuesday or last Friday?) I don’t remember the question, but I’m very sure that Ken forgot to phrase his “answer” in the form of a question. I waited for Alex and the judges to correct it after the break, but they didn’t.
Anyone else notice that?
BTW-- it wouldn’t have affected the outcome, just lowered his total by $400 (I think).
I noticed it and replayed it. (We have DVR.) He actually did form it as a question, but Alex’s acknowlegment of Ken’s buzzer was a tad slower and longer than usual. In other words, Alex talked over Ken’s soft-spoken “What is…”, and all you heard was the rest.
I’ve noticed that Ken’s ability to buzz in first is not to be under-valued. A couple of days back, an economist seemed to know most of the answers as well but was a tad bit slow in buzzing in. In this momentous run, I wonder how many players he has beaten that way.
A lot, I wager. He just won his 21st and is now over $700,000. During the interview segment, he told Alex that his experience with the show had changed him. “I’m now in favor of the Bush tax cuts,” he quipped.
I believe that you are not required to answer in the form of a question in the first round. I think I’ve seen Alex say, in response a correct ‘answer’ inproperly phrased, "yes, and don’t forget to answer in the form of a question.’
Remember that commercial "You have just reached the end of the Internet?"I swear Ken is the only guy who has actually done that.
Ken was quite unspectacular last night, winning by the skin of his teeth near the end of double jeopardy in a borefest. He had his lowest total to date, though he still won. I honestly hope that, when it finally happens, he doesn’t go out this way. I hope he goes out in a blaze of glory after a battle royale with a worth opponent.
You mean something like their buzzers catching fire, or going twenty paces with Blunderbusses if they tie after Final Jeopardy?
I have not had the priviledge to watch Jeopardy for a while because I work nights. I have today, Monday, off, so I’ll get my chance.
Maybe Jeopardy will declare its independence from Ken this afternoon.
Yeah, and Ken will sue for the rights to the show.
What happened today? I missed it! (Darn house-painting!)
Ken wins (duh), but misses FJ again. Ends up with $14k. One opponent went down in flames after a promising second round start. Other opponent smart as a bag of hammers (had $400 at FJ versus Ken’s $22k).
Expanding on Blue’s post, the second-place contestant went from -$1200 to $400 on the last (or second-to-last) question, putting off the tantalizing question of what happens when only one player gets to FJ (the third contestant had $0 at the end).
So, has there ever been an episode that ended with only one (or even no) player reaching FJ?
I think it was already established earlier in this thread that if only one player has a positive dollar amount at Final Jeopardy, he/she still plays Final Jeopardy alone for the opportunity to increase that dollar amount.
Today…
Ken won with exactly $40,000, and was again unbeatable going into FJ, which he answered correctly.
Okay. One of the questions today dealt with a “bile-producing organ” in some type of bear. Someone answered “liver,” and this was wrong…“gallbladder” was the right answer. IANA physiologist, but does the liver not produce bile (which is stored by the gallbladder) in mammals? Are bears’ internal physiology different from that of humans in this respect?
It’s possible that I registered the question wrong, but I’m pretty sure I didn’t.
I really, really am starting to not like Ken.
