I wish you the best of luck, David. No matter the thread, I’ve always zeroed in on your posts to read. Many thanks.
I’m going ahead and sticky-ing this thread so that it doesn’t get lost amongst the other MPSIMS threads.
Thank you!
Life is a journey that never ends, and though you may leave us, what you have contributed to The Greatest Road Trip cannot be diminished, let alone eliminated. As long as one among us lives, we are all immortal, and the journey continues.
Like that L.A. Dopefest, this is The Pits.
I don’t know what to say, other than I’m sorry. You, your family, friends, and loved ones are in my prayers.
I am at a loss for words.
Godspeed. You truly are an admirable man.
David, I will miss you.
I’m not sure how to ask this without seeming ghoulish, but many here would appreciate it if you can make arrangements to let our community know when you have passed.
You already have my personal contact information, and I would be willing to post something if word was sent to me. But I imagine anyone here would be wiling to do the same.
I will offer you a toast at this Saturday’s Dopefest.
Good luck David. You’re one of the posters I always looked for on the boards, and I’l miss your posts.
You and your family are in my prayers.
David,
Thank you so much for spending your time, your thoughts and your wonderful sense of humor with us. Though I understand and respect your decision, a very selfish part of me wishes it were otherwise. All my best to you and your family, sir.
d.
good thing you did - I rarely click on this forum and so would have missed this.
My best to you and your family, keep your loved ones close.
Happy trails
I will interject at this point as a cancer survivor that a positive attitude of those around the patient has corresponding positive effect on his or her well being.
I shall continue to make positive waves.
It’s been an honor to know you, sir.
Good Luck Sir! A true testament to the nature of man can be seen in this thread. Mr.Simmons you have brought to light a true inspiration a real heartfelt emotion! Thank You for all of your posts, I am happy to know you as a man and as a human being through these boards. I wish to see more posts from you and again, Good luck to you Sir!

Be at peace. You’ve touched many more people than you might ever know.
Thanks, pal, and I hope to be contributing to these forums when I am your age. It would be the fulfillment of my life’s wishes - passing on my knowledge without the scar of experience.
You are one of my heroes, buddy - keep living.
David, somehow your photograph reflects the mischief that I’ve always felt lurking behind some of your most serious posts. Although I believe that you are indeed a gentle and noble man, I expect you to leave us with a flourish – a pinwheel on the end of your nose or a rose clinched in your teeth. This old soldier can’t just fade away.
If the fates allow, from time to time I will look back through your posts. They were always worthwhile. Maybe I’ll find just what I need as I so often have. I will make it a point to think about you on Veteran’s Day and the Fourth of July. And if you tell us your birthday, I’ll celebrate that day too! I’ll take you with me through these milestones for as long as I’m allowed.
Your wife is lovely. Sixty years? She was three years old when you married? What a doll!
I wish you a little merriment, comfort, a hand to hold, and easy sleep.
Gleaming wings and fair skies Sir. I really wish my Dad had the chance to meet you. He has already made his last takeoff in 1994. Be warmed that there are many pilots among your admirers who hung on your every word … I will always hear your wisdom when I fly through the “God Smiles” when I am playing with the clouds. You are what “High Flight” is all about.
Fare thee well
