I finally did one of these. Every year I fly down to see a Washington NFL game, hosted by my friend at his sister’s house, and on his season tickets, and he refuses to ever let me pay for anything. He also happens to be a black dude from DC for whom it means a lot that the first black QB to win a Super Bowl did it at Washington, and so I sent him a Doug Williams video…he was THRILLED. I mean, completely blown away (as others have said, it helps if people don’t know Cameo exists).
Anyway, I’d do this again for the right person, right circumstances.
Four Potter actors have landed on Cameo - Ginny (Bonnie Wright), Fred, George, and Draco (Tom Felton). The brothers are $125 each, Wright is $200, and Felton is $500. I can imagine them selling a lot of videos.
Right? But Felton has one of the best afterlives of the Potter actors - visible on Instagram and other sites, incredibly nice as a person and beloved by fans - and so far, 689 people have had videos done with an average 5-star rating of 4.97. (and before you do the math, one thing I’d note is that all the fees are “+” - in his case $499+ - and they can make even more with some extras. (I can’t remember what those were, other than pay +$25 to enter more info/detail))
I was just looking at who is available in Cameo and it’s hard not to compare what various people charge; this actor, only $25; that one, $150. I think one of the Kardashians was the highest, at $2,500 while the biggest asshole from Shark Tank was at $1,500.
Not from Cameo, but in late 2020, the Green Bay Packers sent out personalized video greetings to their season-ticket holders, recorded by former Packers. Due to COVID, NFL games that season were being held in empty stadiums (or, in some cases, they did have small crowds of team staff members and family members), and thus, season-ticket holders, like myself, weren’t able to go to games.
I got a video message from Dave Robinson (a linebacker during the Lombardi Era in the 1960s, and Hall of Famer), addressing me by name, thanking me for my support of the team, and wishing me a merry Christmas. It was a nice touch.
While getting a message from Rog would be cool, if someone was going to spend $$$ on one of those messages for me, I’d say wait until Pete signs up. I’m sure he could come up with a pithy comment or two.
My cousins just sent a link to a Cameo video they purchased for their siblings from Barry Williams (Greg Brady of The Brady Bunch). Evidently they’re huge fans. It was a minute long. Barry was very cheery and exuberant, greeted all of them by name, and told them to have a year full of Sunshine Days and to stay groovy.
