I don’t really understand American politics, nor do I understand the significance of Cohen, his legal troubles, or how any of this relates to bad news for your President. But I did see this, quite, pathetic plea. It was very moving; I didn’t know someone who’s associated with Trump could be sincere.

Everybody who works for the Trump administration protects Mr. Trump. Presumably to the best of their ability. Which means if the nation puts its boot on your neck, you grovel and say whatever it takes to make yourself more credible, so you can live to defend Trump another day. That’s really cold, especially for me, but this guy went to work for Trump, and decided every day for 10 years that working for Mr. Trump was a great idea, brilliant career move, and the best use of his time. The ONLY reason you know about Mr. Cohen right now is because he got caught. Scientists have worked out that there is exactly 0% chance, had he never been caught, Mr. Cohen would have had a spontaneous moment of clarity one morning and said to himself, “Hey, what am I doing?” and legitimized his practice. He’s a viper. Best use for him is to squeeze the last venom from his fangs, and throw him into the same hole his coconspirators end up in. God may forgive him his part, but we can’t afford to.

Cohen is a sleazeball but at least he was a sleazeball within relatively normal parameters, until he met Trump. Now he’s a disbarred lawyer who is going to prison. The corrupting influence Trump had on him is now being inflicted on the whole country.
